Perth might just be the ideal small city
The weather was perfect - sunny and clear with a nice breeze. The city centre was easily walkable. Great breakfast at 44 King Street that carried us all the way through to a delicious dinner with wonderful Margaret River wines at Must winebar. The sky was big. It felt just a little bit like America (Target!), maybe like a cross between San Diego …
Hello Australia
Landed slightly ahead of schedule at about midnight and picked up our Hertz Toyota (Tina) and drove to the hotel with minimum problems!
Checked in to a very comfy room and slept soundly!

En route to Sydney
back at Sullivans for our last night in Perth and it was excellent again. Had another very good meal in the hotel Restaurant, a good nights sleep and up at 6 30 and off to the airport!
G'day Australia!
From one modern metropolis to another - as soon as you arrive here you know it's going to be great. Just like Singapore everything runs so smoothly. We arrive in the airport, pick up our bags; 2minutes later we are on a shuttle bus heading directly to our hotel front door...at which
point we are upgraded (they must have us mistaken with …
Touch down for the Ashes
Evo and Gaz stepped off the plane in Perth at 07.15 am very tired, we didn't get much sleep on the evening flight down from Hong Kong. Taxi to our hotel and then a quick trip into town to get Evo a sun hat and some sun screen to protect him from the strong aussie sun over the next couple of days at the WACA.

Historical Traveler Reviews Sullivans Hotel Perth
Relaxed and Friendly
We stayed here on two different occasions. The second room was nicer than the first but still of a high standard.
Free internet access in the lobby is very helpful and something that was lacking in a number of more expensive hotels.
Nice breakfast, if a little overpriced. Friendly staff and fairly well located.
Perfectly acceptable
Good room, with sea view, adequate restaraunt. Good laundry facilities. Small amount of parking for guests cars, although you could park on the road. Great views of Perth at night from the hotel
A great fortnight
just stayed at the sullivans for two weeks the staff could not do enough for you.a really enjoyable time had by all.
Great hotel and well located
Sullivans is a great little hotel. There is a free blue cat bus stop a few yards from the front door and the park is alongside. Beware of the steep climb into Kings park! The park is approximately 200 feet above sea level and is locally accessed by steps which are really hard work but worth the climb.
I would definately recommend it and also stay there again
Room was too small for us!
This small family hotel is located next to the Swan river on a major roadway. The view out the front is lovely and the location is very convenient, with a bus stop for the blue line (free) right outside the front door. The ease of getting around Perth is, in my mind, the hotel's best feature.
The hotel was very clean, but our room was terribly small. We hardly had enough room to walk around the foot of the bed. We spent 3 days at the hotel and felt cramped the entire time.
The laundry facilities were minimal. There was one washer and dryer that you had to share with the housekeeping staff, so they were not available during the day.
The air conditioner was noisy and didn't work especially well. Since we were in Perth in January we really needed the A/C. With the room being so small the A/C would blow right on you while you were in bed. There seemed to be no way to avoid this, so each morning I'd wake up with a stiff neck and frozen shoulder.
What food we ate at the hotel was quite qood. But there didn't seem to be enough staff to wait on the guests and keep up with room service requests. We usually choose to eat at other places.
I would probably not choose to stay here again. I'm sure we could find another hotel in the same price range with a reasonable sized room.
Lovely convenient location but very budget-concious
Stayed with party of 12 on a three week 5 hotel tour of Southern Australia Sept 2004 (see my reviews of Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Bangkok and Krabi hotels as well).
For those on a budget, the hotel is fine, clean, conveniently located on main road and free circular bus route, gardens and ponds with black swans and other wildlife on them, and only a few yards away from the Swan River itself. Free internet access was a bonus as well.
Fairly basic breakfast where the staff struggled to keep up with demand, but we dined out every night so can't comment on this, although some did have lunchtime snacks which were OK. You must try the outdoor restaurant at the old Swan Brewery up the road, though.
We had problem with noise from a party in the room next door, although to be fair to the hotel staff they did work hard at getting them to keep quiet over two party nights.
Room was clean and reasonably spacious though basically and cheaply furnished, and we had a balcony overlooking the river on the road frontage, which was smashing.
But whatever range of hotel my wife and I stay in we do expect basics like shampoo and a shower cap, and not to be told the hotel doesn't provide them in such an offhand way.
Superb!
Not only an excellent breakfast but eaten looking at Kings Park where the hotel is sited. The free CAT bus (blue line) stops right outside the door.
The Swann river is just across the road. Shame we only stayed for 3 nights. No other hotel in Australia matched the Sullivans.
Small friendly hotel
spent 2 nights here not long enough, good food, friendly, will use again.
Friendly family run hotel
We stayed for 2 nights in September 2002. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent Dinner in the restaurant both nights, good wine list !! Would stay again.
Small Family Run Hotel
Stayed for two nights at this family room hotel. Excellent restaurant, free internet access, clean air conditioned rooms. Real value for money.
