Welcome to the Bangkok sweat box - mid 30 degrees C and high humidity. Worse than usual for this time of the year according to the locals.
After breakfast in the hotel we headed out on the Skytrain to the main river and caught the ferry to the Grand Palace which also included the Emerald Temple.
the river was a very dirty brown and while it had some magnificent properties on its banks there were also some real delapidated old ruins. The real estate has to ...

No one was more surprised than us when the red tape did it's job and we were gathered up and herded into another minibus on the Thailand side and taken without ...

... was all covered in plastic (no flies could land on it), and it looked fresh and delicious! Feeling adventurous, we bought a massive portion each for 70p! We headed back to the hostel to eat it and oh my God... It was the hottest thing I've ever eaten! Since South America, I'm really good with spice now but this... Wow! I could only manage 5-6 mouthfuls in between drinking 2 litres of water! Even, Chris- who's a total Spice Girl couldn't eat it! We had to bin it ...

... elephant. Then he just climbed down off the elephant and walked in front. He asked for my camera and took many photos. Then he asked me to undo the safety strap and indicated for Brian to move from his seat onto the elephant. Brian managed to get it wrong and ended up almost sat on the elephants forehead with his feet dangling down. Mind you if the elephant had got a whiff of his feet he would probably have let him slide down his trunk to the ground. The guide ...
