... yesterday. While there was no surf, I was reminded why I love Mexico so much. From Melaque I took a local bus, 6 pesos, to El Ranchito. This is a little town of maybe 100 people. Melaque
The ATM in Barra crashes worryingly and so we have to visit Melaque further up the beach. Its a little quiet and dilapidated and out of season but they have great street tacos. We try our first Michelada (beer with salt and juice - great for hangovers) and play Angry Birds on touchscreens on the back of the bus seats as we leave - very high tech!

Return to the beach
... and the owner/captain told George he flew back and forth to his job in Texas. Another day we took a launch tour of the lagoon which takes you by the fish market, canals where owners dock their large boats in the back yards, mangrove swamps, beach front restaurants, yacht harbor and returns. Now to get back on the diet!!! ...

... eventually, more rocks… and decided to leave the area alone and build the shopping center to the left of the ruins. To date, only 2% of the 320 acres of ruins have been excavated. They were still finding new buildings on the site in 1995 & 1996. Frankly, they don’t have the money to even properly take care of the grounds they do have available for viewing so who knows what really lies below the service on all this land??

we had a bit of fun bargaining and bought a few things including a big red Mexican sombrero hat – something that you could never bring home on a flight.
Back on board to the cool soothing air on the ship by 2.30 and finally sailed away at 4pm for L.A.
