... that flamingos were native to France, but they are! Brian thought they would have all migrated by now, but I was able to catch a glimpse of a few!

But finally we arrived. Taking the first side road we could that wasn’t waay out of the way we went directly to the water to sit ourselves down on the Med and have a picnic. Beautiful! And we had it all to ourselves with just a few locals going for their mid-day walk or run. Now ...

Raggamuffin for a week

... instant. Last time I saw these people, we were playing kiss tag while drinking chocolate milk and now we were dancing and drinking beer. I think we missed a few steps but that's okay. We spent a few hours at a bar in town and then the 2 sober kids drove us to a night club. There was this huge line but this one kid, Hadrien, just walks up to the bouncer and next thing we're in. I begrundgingly cough up the 13 euro it costs to get in (you do ...

Waste of a day

What a waste of a day...

Go to Nimes and the national parks people said..... we ended up at a campsite way out of Montpellier and the highlight of our day had been the supermarket!!!!

The national park was lots of farm type marsh land... not what we had imagined. Nimes seemed pretty and lots of well preserved Roman things but the traffic was a nightmare and too hard to park so we kept driving with a plan to go out in Montpellier that ...

... across the street – La Palette Gourmande (29 Rue Roussy), but we thought we would wander around and see what else was on offer. However, while we were doing our washing in the nearby launderette, it started to rain. At first it was just a gentle refreshing shower, but became a thunderstorm lasting for hours. By dinner time it was still lashing down, so we ran the 5 metres across the road.

We were rewarded by one of those ...

Southern' Lovin'

Ever feel like you're stuck in a scene of Alice in Wonderland and you see Mister Rabbit running around proclaiming "I'm late I'm late I'm late!"? Are you running in the metro up the stairs, power walking the grands boulevards in those high-yet-adorable heels, always in a hurry? I think Paris has really made me an impatient person...no there's not really a pill one can take to over this frenzy, the only real remedy I recommend is a weekend in the south of France. Like any country there ...

Visiting Montpellier

... the church was built in 1364 and was demolished in 1775 to be replaced with a large classical style church. When we walked into the sanctuary we were surprised to see a wedding in progress. We enjoyed observing a French wedding for a few minutes before continuing our journey. The last tourist site we visited for the day was Jardin Des Plantes, which was a huge botanical garden. The four of us rested in ...

... it's a very provencial town. The stucco houses have bright blue shutters and clay roof shingles. We pickniqued on the river, then boarded the bus to our next stop, Les Baux de Provence. The village deated back to 6,000 years BC and many of the houses and churches that remain were built in the 16th century. The village it self was pretty, there were a lot of modern shops selling postcards and handmade soap. But ...

... train station). By this time it was pouring down rain and the rediculously purple umbrella that I have been lugging around all this time that Dad got me before I left, finally found a purpose and didn't seem so rediculously purple when it meant the differnece between a relatively dry Sandra and a completely soaked and miserable Sandra. Umbrella in hand, I first visited the internet cafe I had been in the night before. No good news there. So I headed over to the train ...
