... English in the entire town. We found our hostel super late at night (and they don't make hostels in France like they did in Spain... no more free internet!). The next morning, we walked into town not really knowing what to see or do. But as we were looking for a quick Petit Dejuner (breakfast) we stumbled upon the Saturday market. We sat at a cafe on the square and had the most amazing breakfast 5 euro can buy if you ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... stay at this lovely lady’s home and forward onto Italy from another port
2) change destination to another port on Corse where there are more options for forwarding onto Italy
3) wait 2 days until there is a direct ferry from Marseille to italy (the one we thought we were on)

In the end we decided on No. 2. I was actually thankfull for once of Brian’s obsessive earliness as ...
Marseille, Provence, France 2totango... Aix...oh, the Brits abroad, mon dieu! Still, best 6€ I've ever spent. We've also been along to the cinema. Embarassingly, it was to see Fame but I'd like to point out how important cinema, and going to the cinema, is to the French. There are at least 3 cinemas in Aix, and there are huge film posters everywhere. 'Le Cezanne', has it's name lit up, and, unlike at home, the seats are like armchairs and there's plenty of leg room. But, like at home, it's bloody ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89... yesterday, Saturday, and it is cooler but still nice. The trip here was spectacular with many olive groves and big mountains. Today we went on a tour to Les Beax - another medieval town with a castle - poor Graham and on his birthday too. Then we went winetasting and to the premier olive oil producers in France. The Mistrql was blowing on the tour and it was very cold but warmer back here in the camp. Tomorrow we explore Aix on foot then we go to Avignon.
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... s how. From there I simply validate my account and I’m part of a network which allows me free access from many different parts of France. But I don’t understand; I still need a router and signal coming from this hotel. Why do I even need this network? And where’s my little blue ball down there? I ask too many questions. Sometimes it’s better just to take what’s given and be grateful. That ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiekWe headed off to our nearest big town yeterday - Aix - population of around 150 000. Has a clear 'old city' and 'new city'. Since we were going to the markets we headed to the old city. Unfortunately for me driving in this area is a bit hairy...but fun. I decided to follow a taxi to get out but he was a slightly better driver than me. At one stage we had beepers going on 2 corners ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France buckgw... each cheek greeting and piled luggage into her TINY car. She was quick to say that her name is Camille, NOT Madame Jore, and to use the informal "tu" when speaking with her not the formal "vous" that young people normally use with adults. My French is pretty shaky but Camille is incredibly patient and skilled at communicating. With her help I will be fluent in no time! I would say her only drawback is she smokes... but so does everyone else in France so I ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France besarver... this experience...although to be fair, they didn't even seem as interested as usual. The Yemen Pavilion: 20 stands sold the exact same assortment of cheap and massive jewelry. That is all. Water? Apparently Yemen has nothing to share with the world about water, but they do have humongous cheap beaded necklaces. We'll stop torturing you there, but we had similar experiences in the Chinese, Hungarian, Bulgarian, etc. pavilions. I have to say that I was ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France ryanandpatti... the results of the 200 metres, in which his protege Harold Abrahams is running. (As a professional coach, Musebini is not permitted in the stadium.) He hears the sound of the gun, then minutes later the playing of God Save the Queen. He knows Abrahams has won the gold medal. He bows his head, tears coming to his eyes, and murmurs, "Harold! My son." When I open the door and get hit by the smell, tears come to my eyes, and I mutter, "Jack. My son."
Aix-en-Provence, France oneyearaway... I did appreciate that now all of the trains are non-smoking though. I got to take the TGV (high-speed train) from Aix to Lyons--was so comfortable and fast. In contrast, I remembered back to the lumbering, uncomfortable, somewhat scary train I took from Agra to Varanasi in India. Hopefully I will get back to Aix before another 22 years goes by. By then I will be 65!! If that doesn't make one think about how fast time flies I don't know what does!
