Oh and there was funnel cake. This is a dish made by drizzling doughnut mixture into the oil in a pie shape. The crunchy cooked dough is lifted out is then icing sugared and topped with strawberries, cream and ice-cream. For completeness we had one. Yum.

... An information sign would be neat as it definitely seems to us to be evidence of a massive event here. A sign -- Fossil Falls use Cinder Road -- perfect little detour and pit stop. Road names often are very descriptive of what you will find. Fossil Falls, as the name suggests, are dry. The lava is polished so it glistened in the sun and felt smooth/soft to the touch. We split this morning. Clark got up early and his friend Ed picked him up and took him out East to the El Campo border patrol station at the Far East end of San Diego County. Ed took Clark on a ride along and they toured the border fence and saw some fantastic views of Mexico from atop the rugged, mountainous terrain where illegal aliens regularly cross into the United States. ... a submarine, an aircraft carrier, the US Midway and many sailboats in the water by the restaurant. Some of the boats were able to go right by the windows near where we sat. When we got back to the Bahia, Gogo, Grandpa and Mason got on another boat, called the Bahia Belle. People could sit on the first or third deck while they sailed around the Bay. We tried both. Mom and Dad met us at the dock and then we all turned in for the night.


This hotel, located in the Old Town/Hotel Circle area of San Diego, is near Maritime Museum of San Diego, Little Italy, Hornblower Cruises & Events, and San Diego Harbor Excursion.
