It wasn't really cold up the mountain, about 3º C and the sun was out, to wear snow gear one could have been over dressed!. There hasn't been a fall of snow in the past week so the snow wasn't fresh and quite icy and there were a few incidents of slipping over.
It was certainly worth the trip up to this place for a inexpensive day of fun, and no churches ...

... there is" and "there's going to be a big dump next tuesday" but every day we would get up and be greeted by stunning blue skies. The winds picked up late in the 2nd week which combined with -15degrees on the mountain made for some pretty tough conditions. Sal got frostbite on her nose and fingers and one afternoon we got stuck on the mountain as the 80kmh winds forced all the cable cars and chairlifts to shut. ... the top and had a magnificent view as you can see in the photos. We played around in the snow taking photos then headed into the cafe for a glass of wine before descending the mountain again. We got off the train a stop earlier than Zermatt and walked the rest of the way down a few paths, passed a brook and into town for a kebab and a bit of shopping before heading to bed. Heading for Basel tomorrow by train to start our river ...
... and we were all a bit worried about the 3 minute change over - finding the right platform and train as well as getting our luggage off and then on again. We must have made the change over in less than a minute, so we were all very happy with our organisational skills!!
