After seeing the spectacular Terra cotta warriors, we left Xi'an via plane to Chengdu. I hadn't heard much about this city and was ready to explore.

We arrived to the city quite late due to plane delays. The group optional activity was to see the Chinese opera, which was quite well known in Chengdu, but we had to forgo it due to arriving too late in the city. Disappointed, I wasn't sure what i was going to find in Chengdu that would spark my interest.

Before we got to the panda place though, we had a night to explore the city. Chengdu as part of Sichuan province is famous for its spicy foods so we decided to go to a traditional hotpot restaurant. This turned out to be ...

... metro back to our hostel.

Walking along Renmin Rd., past the "Yorkville" of Chengdu (loads of *hyper* expensive stores ie: Tiffany & Co., Prada, Burberry), we eventually came across Tianfu Square which is presided over by a big statue of Mao with flowerbeds and fountains underneath. We took a few pictures and continued along the main road. Andrew browsed in a knife store, selling mostly cleavers. He really wanted to buy a few and ...
