Well we have had our few days of rest and recovery and we set off on our travels again tomorrow.
Perhaps we have been rather spoiled by our travels, but we were a bit underwhelmed by Phuket and Phi Phi. It's nice enough but I think our expectations were a bit high. We really enjoyed Ko Tao and Ko Samui much more last year, and we thought this …
We woke up at 10am, it was soooo nice to actually sleep in a bed! We went down for brekkie, we were so excited to start exploring!
The hostel was really nice! top marks to STA Travel for putting us on to this place! http://www.sugarpalmkaron.com/ We had an awesome brekkie and filled up on that for the day. The heat and humidity was intense, we …
... in South America, is everyone has stopped paying attention to me and asking me where I am from, and now everywhere we go, Nath gets 'hey, where you from, Germany/ Finland/ Switzerland?' I don't think we have gone a day since we left Bangkok without this happening. There are a lot of Russians holidaying in Phuket, and the large Russian hit-man looking type guy sat next to us asked Nath is he was German- he wasn't quite sure what the best answer was to give, but he thought ...
... cut through the forest for our descent, we did what every health conscious fitness fanatic would do after an exhausting 6km walk; we hit the bar for a session on the Singha. With a couple of bevies tucked away for re-hydration purposes. it was up to room for a 'robbie flower' in readiness for a night out in Karon. This focussed group of 6 had two goals in mind; locate a suitable destination for dinner and ...
... for our first Tuk Tuk ride in the afternoon to get us to Patong beach and the OTOP (One territory one product) market. Very commercialised here and not really much local product. Not even sure what the local product is if not fakes and t-shirts (which are probably mostly fakes too). Lots of tailors wanting to make Carl a suit today. Amazing that so many people must want suits made. The stores are hilariously named, suggesting they sell Armani, Boss etc. Why any of these would ...

We were quite happy with our hotel room. Linen was clean and room was serviced every day. Good pool, it could do with steps into the pool.
We didn't realise that the airport transfer provided was not complimentary (as all other hotels we have used with this ticked have been free). Most of the staff friendly and helpful. The male chef could have been friendlier. Cleaning staff very pleasant. Travel clerk also very helpful. Hotel is in good area and short walk to beach.
