... playing a familiar tune, I look over and the head chef comes out and starts singing happy birthday with the harp player THEN all the other people staying and working at the hotel joined in all singing happy birthday to me. They then presented me with a hand made ornament and wished me another happy birthday. I got up and bowed to all the staff thanking all of them. Today is the day to venture up to the Japanese Alps to Myokokogan. Marina was lovely enough to drop us over to the train rather than us having to go all the way back down to Nagano and back up on the other line. ... walk to the park where the monkeys are, it sounded more arduous than it was. It was certainly colder up that way and a lot more snow.
