    ... and Noble (books), the "El train" is close to our hotel, we bought some basic foodstuffs at Target (which happens to be in a beautiful old building), scoped out the public library for a visit tomorrow.     So I survived the (relative) hell that is travelling by Amtrak from San Francisco to Chicago. It was touch and go at the end given that they ran out of food and so the only choice you had for lunch the final day was whether or not to have cheese on your burger.
