When traveling with 3 kids under 10 you start preparing months in advance! We have packed each person their own duffle bag, packed an extra bag for dirty laundry, and a carload of snacks and drinks that are corn free and fun. ... time to chill out we went out to find a spot for supper. We discovered the Augusta Mall nearby and had a deli dinner at McAllister's Deli. We then checked out the Mall which was very upscale. Things were beginning to close but we did manage to discover a great store called Charming Charlie where I had fun looking at all the fun jewellery ...

... The rails are mainly abandoned now but they have been made into walking and riding trails - Rails to Trails.

In 1865, Confederate General Joseph Wheeler took his position in Aiken to oppose Union General Sherman's raid during the War Between the States. Sherman was defeated. For the past 20 years, the town of Aiken has reenacted this Battle of Aiken in February. It is supposed to be quite the event to watch.

... Brandy and Krista, and their families. As usual, Linda fixed way too much food, but it sure was good. They also treated us to a nostalgic evening at a German restaurant where we had a delicious and authentic dinner. We had a great time, and it was great to get to see them.

Highlights

The purpose of this stop was to take a peak at the legendary Augusta National Golf Course, the home of the US Masters golf tournament.

The town itself is nondescript for such a famous location. Its hard to fathom where the spectators and media would stay during the tournament as its not a large town and dining and entertainment options are limited.
