... training locals how to be police men. He's a huge man, all bald and massive and American. They were pleasant enough though and they took some photos of the two of us which Sam swore she'd email on. I'll believe it when I see them in my inbox. I hope she does though because it'll be the only evidence we have of our trip so far {booo}.

We got back to the hostel, packed up our stuff, cooked ourselves some pasta and said goodbye to ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico doireann_brian... were "flashpacking". The hostal was full of kiwis, the first we had met in Mexico, and Swedes and Germans. A lot of them had only planned to go to Puerto Escondido for a couple of days but had ended up staying for weeks. Three kiwi girls had thrown in their entire trip plans so they could spend the whole time partying up large in P.E. One of those Kiwi girls had lost her passport and other important ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico fact... of a Viking warrior. That certainly was a conversation starter. He turned out to be a bricklayer from Copenhagen, Denmark.

In these times where most travellers, at least the one’s we have met, seem to have impressive jobs, how often do you get to meet a bricklayer. I can’t believe I just wrote that sentence but it illustrates the point the Dane made himself about Denmark. Bricklayers suffer from the “Rodney Dangerfield ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico loboWhats the first thing that crosses your mind after a few days of recovering from illness and sleeping in hammocks? Go to El Circus of course! Yesterday I felt a lot better after a few days of shivers and sweats (which i find you always get at least once on any trip) so as my mind slowly started kicking back into gear and i was hangin around on the balcony considering what to do for the evening a small truck with a speaker phone ...
puerto escondido, Mexico chalk... my journal that I feel like I fit in in Zipolite- like I was among kindred spirits. It´s not the same thing in Puerto Escondido, but that´s okay. There are tons of real-life surfers here, and not ever having met one face-to-face, I´m a little awestruck. I´ve kept mostly to myself- reading, swimming in the hotel´s pool (the beach I´m closest to is very dangerous for swimming), catching up on internet stuff ...
Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico dmwalsh... is the beach where the Mexican Pipeline bangs in. We hunted around a few places and ended up picking Hotel Rockaway which got us a room with AC for $40 and there is a pool in the complex as well. http://www.hotelrockaway.com/ The AC is needed cause it is pretty warm here but there are also Cabanas with fans that some of our non flashpacking travelling surfer dudes were holed up at. We then had a wander back into the main town ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico markandbecsMontezuma's Revenge is what is referred to by tourist's who visit México and experience stomach problems. The name is derived from Montezume III the ruler of the Aztez empire that was defeated by the Spanish conquitador Cortés. Well, for the past 3 days, I've been feeling ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico shef11308... on the beach with hammocks and we put Islie down for a nap and we hung in the sun and read our books. Islie got to try sandia (water melon) for the first time and she liked it. We taxied back to the hotel and went down to CoCo's again and swam and chilled out drinking our "free" drinks and eating chips ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico kaiandheather... of toucans and kaleidoscopes across a lightly-clouded sky. As the ballooning sun gets closer and closer to the horizon you order yet more drinks (maybe a daiquiri or two this time) from the list of fifteen-plus cocktail varieties and prepare yourself for the night ahead. You could say it was the endless weekend that ended too soon. The return trip was something to be remembered for slightly different reasons. Nath and I, both having been sick the ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico jarrad.barnes... like that very much, mainly because I hate getting covered with sand, especially inside my suit. But it definitely was nice to get in the water and cool off from sunbathing. We took it easy, keeping at least partly in the shade, but of course, you get the reflection as well. There's also a nice breeze that keeps it from being too hot. We've both gotten pretty good tans, especially Terry, and without any peeling. Terry had also ...
