... meal and the room. This was one of the more expensive places we have stayed at, and it was also one of the stingiest. I hope that tomorrow we can find a nice meal. I also hope that my companions continue their friendship, as well as their decision to walk apart. It’s important that they get to each walk in their own way, and that they each get the experience they want and deserve.

... We had to walk very quickly in an attempt to get off the highway as soon as possible. This was very difficult for me. When we finally arrived in a town, we were able to again consult our maps and find the trail. The rest of the walk was through cow farms and forests. We passed shrine that held a book where pilgrims could leave some information about themselves. I never see any Americans in these books, so I make sure to always take the time to write something.
