... through very narrow streets.. Close to the centre of the town is a lake with typical Greek fishing boats around the edge. We walked up a steep street to the local museum for a look around and then through the local streets. Eventually we were back in the centre of the town and had a cold drink overlooking the lake then some shopping.

Hannah and Owen had jumped ship the night before, seeking cold air and comfortable sleep courtesy of Mr Dim. Nestled within the walls was the impressive Palace of the Grand Master, built for the leader of the Knights of the Order of St. John.

The palace was sacked when the Ottoman Turks finally defeated the army of the Knights.

It wasn’t restored until the 1930s when the Italians occupied Rhodes and decided the palace would be a nice summer villa for Mussolini.
