We went to Santa Monica Pier and ate candy floss or cotton candy as they call it in the states. There is an amusement park on the pier; Pacific Park which has a ferris wheel and a small roller coaster. There is also an aquarium and a nice view of Venice Beach. Over the years Santa Monica Pier has been featured in several films, tv shows and even songs so it was nice to finally get to see it in person.
We left LA to go to Las Vegas by bus.
... the locals ask how we can live in Australia with all those dangerous animals... The kids were less than enthusiastic when Mum and Dad dragged them out that afternoon for a stroll in Monrovia Canyon Park which is literally over the hill from Hidden Valley http://www.yelp.com/biz/monrovia-canyon -park-monrovia. Perhaps it was the fact that the park is not only home to black bears and mountain lion, but also to rattlesnakes and poison oak ...

While Beijing's underground music scene is generally under the authorities' radar - hip-hop, indie rock and reggae groups perform regularly at nightclubs here - the producers representing broadcast media in China avoid musicians perceived as threatening. "There are pockets of freedom here," said Wong Miao, 24, the director of Acupuncture Records, which doubles ...
Los Angeles, California, United States happysheep... out, but less hectic than LA and generally more chilled out and safe... in fact where I'm staying in Lake Forest the crime rate is the 10th lowest in the whole country... and the next town along is number one of the same list. LA is a lot different to the previous parts of the US I have visited (New York, Miami and the Keys) but just as nice in a different way. But I couldn't live here - it's a driving city and you can't get very far without a car... I ...
Downey, California, United States lucyb1983ukWe had a late start to the morning since everyone was still so tired from Disneyland. We got all packed up and checked out of the hotel, then wandered across the street to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast. The food was good, and the portions enormous. I don't think anyone finished everything on their plates. At 11am, we had a driver pick us up for a tour around Hollywood. This way even Steve could enjoy the ...

Los angeles, California, United States sussiogthomas... out. I couldn't seem to stop sleeping!! Sunday 16th March 2008 Mission Ipod!! Andreas and I headed to Hans Zimmer's studios and downloaded my music from my old ipod onto the computer so we could transfer once we had got the ipod. I met Hans Zimmer which was cool although he ran so quickly when I asked for a photo! Not surprised. We went and got my ipod touch which is amazing and I got it a little cover to keep it safe! However, apple is stupid and requires different wires and ...

As I was still on UK time in my brain, I had gone to bed relatively early and then woke up really early so I was downstairs ready for the 5 am shuttle! I decided it was silly to sit around in the bedroom when I could go and get checked in. So I did, and I was pleased that I did, as when I was trying to complete the self-checkin for USAirways, the machine wouldn't do the flight from Phoenix to Denver (my cheap ticket took me through Phoenix on the way to Denver ...
Los Angeles, California, United States justinep... are weird!) We got back to Dusty's house in Pasadena and sat drinking beers and gossipping into the wee small hours and finally went to bed at about 2ish. The next day Dusty had decided we should all walk up into the San Gabriel mountains so early in the afternoon we set off, parking Jo's pickup at the bottom of some ferocious looking hills and set off along the trail. It was 2.5 miles long up Echo mountain and all uphill! At times the trail was really quite narrow and wound its way ...
Los Angeles, California, United States bricknellOk, here I am then, about to spend the first night of my trip on the floor of LA Airport because my flight to Portland in the morning leaves bloomin' early! Well, that, and I can't afford the airport hotel rates. So, after walking for what seemed like miles, I finally found a terminal that was A. open, and B. had ...
