Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. It looks like we got about 3" overnight. Luckily we're heading south! Had great Chinese food last night. Who knew we'd find it in Maine! Here's what morning looked like - winter ...

      Cathy back.....
As we were walking to the waterfront on instructions from the hotel, I was convinced we were in the wrong place as there was no one anywhere near us! When we got to the water it was dark and deserted and only a handful of other people about! Given there were a zillion people at the earlier fireworks, I was ...

'There isn't a starch I've met that I didn't like'.... the menu sides included fingerling potatoes, fries, roast potatoes, rice, potato salad and mashed potato! They were the only options for sides... no vegetables or anything. Just starch. I had TWIN lobsters for tea! 2 whole lobsters for $37! 2 lobsters steamed are only about 300 calories! Dad you really would love the lobster!! So ...

... wasn't in a cupboard!! ********* A common thing we hear when ordering meals is 'What would you like for your starch?' Specifically.... would you like fries / potato etc. we all need our starch! *************** Road trip things.... We saw a 'watch for moose' sign! This highway speed was r75 mph .... with a minimum speed of 45mph!! Never seen a minimum speed before! Largest signs we saw were NOT the signs to exit the freeway.... but exits to buy lottery ...

... had a light but aged taste. It was a little funky but once I got food I enjoyed it a lot more. Next was the Sebago Slick Nick. I would recommend this beer to anyone who enjoys a nice crisp drink. It was light as well but had a distinguishable sweetness to it. My favorite one was the Baxter Phantom Punch Winter Stout. This one was nice and dark and almost comparable to Guinness. It had a bitter kick to it and almost like a coffee type after ...
