... on we managed to arrive at the Tabatinga airport five ours early. Baring in mind we thought there would be some sort of shop there or cafe, nope. This is the most basic aiport I have ever seen, only flying a plane too and from Manaus three times a week. Not too mention the flight being more like a rollercoster ride than anything, people even started screaming! overall Tabatinga was not a nice place, but no where near as bad as we were expecting. On too Manaus and the ...

The winding path went like this; Robin suffered a flat battery on arrival at Valparaiso (battery or alternator?); Then Colin had the same problem in Ushiaia (battery man tested and claimed the battery had failed - one new Yuasa later); Next a long spell of no hassles until Nequen, Argentina (auto sparky reckoned it was the fuel pump electronic gismo and wired in a bypass); All seemed fine until ...

While the boys were away Diane enjoyed time with Jucelia and the children; Sophie and Sarah. This included a visit to a hair salon for a hair colour, and getting her nails painted.

Robin and Colin absented themselves for Thursday to make the 800 km trek recovering Colin's bike. A successful foray completed by 5:15 pm. The overhauled alternator stator worked faultlessly on the return journey and all ...

414km to stop for the night in Maringa. We had no accommodation booked but decided Garmin listed a familiar name - motel. We rocked on up to the first one - fenced and gated with intercom. Don couldn't understand the conversation but we soon interpreted the signs in front of us. - pay by the minute and no longer than 2 hours - the heart decorations added to the interpretation - not for us! Maybe the next 'motel' would suit. Ooops I think motel ...

... malls. The centre reminded me more of a typical Brazilian city; busy, with lots of shops selling suspect goods (i got a Hollister t-shirt for 10 reals {about £3-£4}).
The center has some nice parks with small craft markets and pretty grand cathedral. There is also a theatre, which apparently one of the best outside Sao Paulo city. Next to this there is a restaurant/bar place called Pinguim (Portuguese for penguin), famous for its chopp (a light beer) and some of ...
