Absolutely fine, off season prices are reasonable and there is really, really hot water in the mornings so you can warm up, and plenty of blankets are provided at night because it gets COLD in Kodai during the off season! That's all you need, really.

Kodaikanal basically has one job and that's to sit there and look pretty, and it does it incredibly well. It's high up here, about 2100 m.a.s.l. so it gets pretty chilly at night which is basically a politer way of saying "**** my life, you could fashion diamonds with my nipples right now!" Then I lived in an expatriate enclave and hardly mixed with a local socially. I never sought to understand their lives and was simply focussed on doing a good job as the company defined it. This time things are different. I realise ...

... by a wall of mist so there wasn't much to see. Afterwards we entered Bryant park which was pretty nice with lots of flowers, trees and greenery. We then started a 5km circuit of the lake, halfway through the rain came fast and heavy and by the time we finished we were both soaked through. After some lunch and a chai we set off again to look at the little shops and stalls in the area. The main thing here was ...

Descending into the valley below, you leave the plantations behind, pass through a dense forest and find yourself walking through in a small green meadow with a stream trickling along quietly over a rocky bed, with the sound of traditional music emanating from somewhere unseen up in the hills above... Idyllic! With the fresh cool breeze under the morning sun, this place was ...

Beautiful Mountains & slightly less scary monkeys

The temples I've seen here have been very special, but I decided it was time to do something other than temple finding. So I headed for the mountains. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but even the ...
