Absolutely fine, off season prices are reasonable and there is really, really hot water in the mornings so you can warm up, and plenty of blankets are provided at night because it gets COLD in Kodai during the off season! That's all you need, really.

Kodaikanal basically has one job and that's to sit there and look pretty, and it does it incredibly well. It's high up here, about 2100 m.a.s.l. so it gets pretty chilly at night which is basically a politer way of saying "**** my life, you could fashion diamonds with my nipples right now!" I'm not gonna lie, the long johns are out and I'm not …

... 1980's. However, I quickly came to understand that my reactions now are different. Then I was working for a foreign company and trying to manipulate the locals to do what we wanted and what would be best for the company and its employees, like me. Then I lived in an expatriate enclave and hardly mixed with a local socially. I never sought to understand their lives and was simply focussed on doing a good job as the company defined it. This time things are different. I realise ...

... the Bryant Park and botanical garden, Alia was keen to hire a pedal boat so we did. Having not done any exercise whatsoever since we got here (and probably for a few years before that) it was harder than we had expected. So after 10 minutes we started feeling the acid in our legs and took a break under the excuse that we were enjoying the view. "Why are we stopping?" Alia asked, and we had to admit that we were a bit tired. “But I’m not tired!” she exclaimed assuming ...

... bus breaking down a couple of times on route! Shane got no sleep! We arrived at Palani (a huge bus station) at three in the morning and had to wait until 5am for our connecting bus. The pay to use toilets were vile (just like several other pay to use toilets on our trip) and yet several girls were trying to bathe from a stand in pool of stagnant water. About a hundred homeless people used the station floor as their bed, many of them ...

... of cars, small garden surrounding the home, 4 guest rooms and one for host. The room is just a tiny 10*10 room with all basic amenities. Its not super posh but value for money. Refreshed and walked out for dinner in a restaurant nearby. Even-though Munnar is in Kerala, most of them talk Tamil and few in Malayalam. The temperate dipped to 16C in the night for a nice sleep for the next lively day in Munnar..
