Absolutely fine, off season prices are reasonable and there is really, really hot water in the mornings so you can warm up, and plenty of blankets are provided at night because it gets COLD in Kodai during the off season! That's all you need, really.

After so long away, once again serendipity has worked its magic and brought me to this place at exactly at the right time. I feel ready to go home now, ready to tap my creative juices and help bring something special into being.

But not quite yet. It’s Sunday and it will take us another four days to extricate ourselves from this country. Needless to say, there is no internet coverage ...

... The western Ghats(Ooty was also in the Ghats) contains 27% of India's flowering plants and an incredible array of wildlife. Apparently the Ghats are home to the highest density of King Cobra snakes in the world and is also one of the wettest places on earth, dropping up to 9 m of rain in some parts during the monsoon. Luckily we have seen neither rain nor cobra!! Its not just the air and relative lack of pollution that's refreshing in the Ghats but there is ...

Printed few attractions maps, Idukki district map & google map directions from Bangalore; I can't travel without that.

... As planned earlier, we headed to Cumbam. Cumbam-Theni route was a smooth ride, but with couple of halts in between as the new by-pass road wasn’t fully constructed. Apart from that, the ride to Theni was a pleasant one & moreover we could take our rides to greater speeds. By asking the directions at correct junctions we headed towards outer munnar without any confusion as none of us had ...

... another 4 that had attached themselves onto us.

Luckily they were mostly small and we pulled them off with twigs. We later learned that the tea pickers manage to avoid them by smothering their legs with coconut oil. We had been on the move for over 3 hours and only just reached the very top of this part of the world. Next we started to head downwards towards the Tea Museum which was back in Munnar town.
