... very dramatic in the cold November light. Tucking in to our pasties from the previous night and a take away coffe, The Tom Tom then took us falteringly (the cable connection was rather dodgy) to Port Isaac which lies on the western coast of England in northern Cornwall.and is probably more familiarly known as Port Wen in the TV show Doc Martin.
Although the weather turned cold and ...

Day trip to Tintagel and Newquay

Today we went on a day trip to Tintagel and Newquay.

Tintagel Castle (now the ruins of) is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, and lies on an exposed headland on the north side of the Cornwall peninsula. There is a lot of history there; some findings suggest that it was occupied as long ago as 200-300AD! There is a ...

Shopping and driving day

It was a shopping and driving day today. We went for a bit of an impromptu tour around the Bodmin Moor area (didn't see the beast unfortunately) and then went to a big department store called Trago Mills where I bought a big road map for when I get a job driving around Europe.

Not much else to report for today, but we did see a cool scooter with thousands of mirrors and a tail!

Off to Liskeard, Cornwall for a week

For my next trip I was off to Cornwall in the South West for a week with my Nan, aunties Jeanette and Marion and uncle Roland. We stayed at Lakeview Villas, about a 5 minute drive out of Liskeard.

Today we drove down from London, and aside from a bit of a holdup at Bath, it was a smooth drive down.

Not quite a caravan park...

... fill the water tank up. Which we duely did and fired up the boiler for our first hot shower in the van. Apart from being a little cosy in there it worked like a dream. Being the only van in the padock had it's advantages... we could pick the best (flatest) spot and enjoy the peace and quite and a beautiful sunset as well as the light show which is the country night sky.

Inundated by Relies

Left Totnes and Wayne & Julia on Friday to cross Dartmoor on our way to Lona's ancestrial home at Bideford in North Devon. Interesting trip, we found Haytor, probably the highest point on the moor. Typical local council, they put the carpark alongside the road and make your climb best part of a mile up on to the high point. Not fit enough for that caper but we made it. After that we stopped at the ...

WELL HERE WE ARE

... chicken and veg, only problem is I don't have a chicken just yet and there is none running around anywhere to oblige so will need to investigate where I can find one.

Took truck dog Poppy back to vet yesterday so he could issue her pet passport. That makes us all set to travel to Europe. Just one problem she cant come back into UK until 20Th January 2010, rules apparently so not sure when we will be traveling across to Europe might not be until 2010.

A relaxing week at home..

... who were really the whales by the end of the cruise…)

- an arctic BBQ (truly outdoors)

- dog-sledding the day we got off the cruise (on wheels of course as its summertime in Longyearbyen at a warm 5 degrees)

We then went on to Zurich where we were fortunate enough to stay with our friends Annette and Ashley at their lovely new ...
