Day nine
We started the day with a McDonalds breakfast, it was the easiest option as neither of us wanted too much to eat. We had decided to plan the day around trying to get the most out of it building in a pool rest. We decided to have a half day down the far end of the strip, followed by a few hours around the pool before we tackled some more of the …
Las Vegas
I'm really annoyed that I have to rewrite my Vegas entry again. When I wrote this a few days ago it never saved. To be honest I'm going to write a short entry as I don't feel like rewriting this again. Well Vegas is basically what you make of it. It's bright, tacky and fun. And to be honest of that is not your thing then I would not advice going. I …
Day eight
Today we head for VEGAS or Los Wages as Tania calls it. AM We left Flagstaff and started our journey for the bright lights of Lost Wages at 8am, a bit unfortunate as the Arsenal game was live on ESPN2. Still the result at half time was still 0-0 and all to play for. We had 250 miles and 6 hours on the bus today but with a couple of stops on the way …

Not excellent but good enough. Access and discount to tower and rides is a plus. Beautifull view from the tower on any time of the day, but watching the sun set behind the mountains and watching the city-lights become visible was special.

This was a good stay. Everything we needed, but had to taxi anywhere. Not in the hub of things.Clean, comfortable, quiet rooms.

Better than the other hotels we've stayed at in Vegas. Clean and up to date. Good facilities. Get an 'Ace' card and you get discounts on food, even if you don't want to gamble.

Check-In was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable. I expected the casino to be smoky but it wasn't. We got a 25% discount on the Plate Buffet with our Ace Players card. We got a free upgrade just by asking ahead of time. We enjoyed their pool on the 8th floor. As hotel guests we got free access to the tower.

Great room, great view, great price. The only downside is the location because its a long walk to the strip, but you should use the bus pass.

We've stayed here on 3 seperate occasions. Always satified and the price is great. Location is on the north end of the Strip, but the Monorail is just a 5 min walk away.

Historical Traveler Reviews Stratosphere Hotel, Casino and Tower Las Vegas
Two Thumbs Down!
We go to Las Vegas at least twice a year and stay at various hotels. I will never, I say never stay at the Strastophere Hotel/Casino ever again. The customer service is HORRIBLE. Our reservations were messed up when we arrived. I asked the Check-In staff at the front desk if they could help us. They all acted like I was bothering them and NO they did not help us. So on a Thanksgivining holiday weekend, no vacancies anywhere we were stuck with no reservations. No Staff wanted to help us and we were passed around from staff to staff like a hot potatoe.
We found another hotel at the last minute, thank goodness and were treated like customers should be treated with RESPECT and appreciation!
So don't believe the Travel Channel, when they do their hotel reviews, nice, accomodating, cheap and voted number one for more bang for the buck! I would rather pay the extra buck!
I think it so dear, The Stratosphere
I took my wife for her first trip to las Vagas. By chance we got "The Stratosphere" I was impresed with our room upgrade. the friendly Bartenders, pouring big complementery Margarettas, plenty of parking and I won 1000 dollar jackpot. My son and I are going soon. He is 21 now. Inexpensive and on the ball My favorate place to go. The Stratosphere David O'Reilly
Great deal for the money...
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Stratosphere hotel/casino and had no problems at all. We stayed in the newer tower, A MUST, which had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom that was huge... The room was modern, very nice, not too small either, with a view of the pool and strip. Yeah, this hotel as the end of the strip, and paying the taxi's to drive you back and forth can be quite costly, but if your looking for a nice room, good value, but nothing too costly... great place to stay...
You can"t ask for much more......
for the price the stratosphere can"t be beat. We visit Vegas twice a year and have stayed at several strip and downtown locations. The rooms at the Stratosphere have always been clean and the staff friendly and helpfull, If its glitz your looking for look elsewhere but how much time do you spend in your room or even the hotel?
Nice, Clean Place
My husband and I stayed @ the Strat. Memorial Day weekend. We got a great deal via mail. 3 nights for $35!! We couldn't pass it up. Even booking airfare separate, the whole package, including a car was well under $300 per person. Not bad for a holiday weekend!
The first room we checked into had stains on the carpet and I wanted to switch. The front desk was very courteous and reassigned us. The next room was perfect and adequate and VERY CLEAN.
Casin was great. Buffet was clean and delicious! Everything @ the Strat is reasonable and clean. Nice clientele. Not stuffy either. Go to Bellagio or Mandalay for that kind of attitude!
Everyone has there own experience. We are very pleased and are coming back again this September.
Nice place, good casino, good buffet, courteous staff!
Choose another Hotel/Casino, or you will be sorry
I just came back from a trip to Vegas, we stayed at the Stratosphere. Words cannot describe the visit, it was horrible, everything from the rooms to the way the staff treats you. My husband and I have gone to Vegas 5 times throughout our 20 year marriage. You would be alot better off staying at a Motel 6. There must not be ANY insulation of any kind in the rooms because you can hear everything in the halls and rooms next door. If you have a problem, dont plan on anyone listening to you. We had our room upgraded in order to have a sauna type tub, the water pressure was so low, it took 3 hours to fill it up, and the management does not care. It would take forever to write out all of our problems. Just beleive me, the place is a hole. Go ahead and wait in the lines to go up the tower, its pretty, but not worth the hassle of getting there. The roller-coaster just goes round and round, yee ha!
USE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!
Not Bad!
I just returned from Las Vegas, and I stayed at the Stratosphere with 3 of my friends for the memorial day weekend. After reading all the reviews before I went, I was half-expecting to find the place in shambles.
My expectations of filth were replaced with a very enjoyable experience. The casino was nice, and clean, it was a decent place. The hotel was decent and acceptable.
If you are looking for grandeur and over-the-top decorating...go someplace else, but if you want a nice, clean room...stay at the Strat. It was a lot of fun, and definitely appeals to a younger crowd.
Top Of The World
We visited the Stratosphere at Christmas to get married, we didnt want the typical Las Vegas style wedding, and we liked the idea of the top of the tower wedding.
The hotel was basic but the room was a good size and was very clean, the facilities were average and the staff not very helpful. The entertainment was also average and the "show" is pretty awful.
If you plan to walk along the strip, this is not the hotel to choose, it is a fair walk and the bus service takes forever to fight its way through the traffic. The tower has a brilliant view and that is worth visiting on its own, the price of the hotel is its main advantage, if you are looking for luxury then look elesewhere.
Great value
My friends and I went out to Vegas for a 21st birthday get together at the Strat. First of all it's cheap rates are the lowest in town and location isn't that bad if you know your ways around, have a car, and without taking a taxi everywhere. The rooms are big enough for 4 adults and we had an awesome view of Mt. Charleston out our window, which wouldnt have mattered much cause we didnt go there to sit and look out the window. If you want a room with a view of disneyland go stay at the 500 a night type places down, well you know where. Anyway, we lost our butts at the tables but the casino is very large and well laid out. Cocktail waitresses make good rounds to the tables, and the drinks where the best of all the places we went. Crazy Armadillo had the most entertaining bartenders in town and was a great place to lay low, and have a drink after a night a losing at cards. Buffet was okay, nothing great, and the tower itself had amazing views. It was too windy for the rides, but people, it's the desert the wind blows there everyday. The 4 dollars for the pass to the top was well worth it, hit it up at sunset, its amazing! Check in was a breeze as was check out but the key is timing! If you try to check in anywhere right at the prime of the day, well of course there will be a line, I don't care what place you stay at. I have nothing but good things to say about the joint other than the walls being quite thin in the room, but even that was only a problem once because we used the room for sleep and shower which equals about 5 hours a day. Save your money with a room here, research before you go about shuttle service and CTA, and enjoy.
Good Price... What a dump!
Wanted to stay close to downtown, and Strat seemed like the right price ($60 on wkend), Looked at rooms before we stayed, good thing, Its a dump.... Stayed at Fitzgeralds for $28 p/nt and room was great!
