We left York this am for the long drive to Coventry, mostly by motorway (highway). In Coventry, we viewed the Coventry Cathedral, bombed to destruction by the Germans in WWII. The original church was built in the 12th century, funded by Godiva Leofric, her husband. During WWII, Britain had recovered several machines that encrypted German …
The Cotswolds, defiantly a place you could spend more time at.
We spend our first night here at the White Hart Inn, in Chippenham, a couple of minutes before Castle Coombe.
Driving into Castle Coombe was like stepping back in time, narrow winding roads with buildings right on the road edge, a babbling brook on the other side of …
This morning after breakfast we met at reception at 9:15 to go to Warwick Castle. When we got there we got our tickets which were expensive but worth it. We had a look around the castle and it was really big so we first had a look at the gardens and we picked a rose. We booked in for the dungeon at 11am so we went in and it was scary but I really …
This morning we got out of bed and went to breakfast at 8:00am. I Halas bacon and eggs and orange juice. After breakfast we left to go to Cradley Heath at 10:30 but first we went to the laundrette to do some washing. On the way to Cradley Heath we got lost so and had to ask for directions 3 times. So instead of the trip taking 1 hour it took 2.5 …
Today we had breakfast at 8:00am and I had cereal with bacon and eggs and orange juice. It was good to have bacon and eggs again! After breakfast we went for a walk to the Main Street to have a look at the shops but nothing opened until 10:30-11:00. So we walked around and went to cricket at 11:00 at Stratford Upon Avon Cricket Ground and it …

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Stratford-upon-Avon
We stayed in this hotel for one night only and I was very disappointed. The room was cold when we arrived. There was a very thin quilt on the bed and only one blanket that looked like it had come from an army surplus store. The breakfast was poor and the only tea and coffee available was from a machine and tasted terrible. I'm sure there are better hotels in Stratford.
Shabby hotel and terrible service!
I don't know how it got 4 stars!!!I stayed at this hotel for two nights over Easter 2004 and I wish I hadn't. My room was quite nice however the bathroom was tiny I could not lie down in the bath (and I am only 5feet 4in!) The corridors leading to the rooms are claustrophobic and really shabby. However the worst part of this trip was the service. Throughout my stay I found the staff to be very unfriendly and on a number of occasions rude. The service in the hotels restaurant was appalling. Waiting staff where sparse and when they did serve you they did it very grudgingly! There are a number of hotels in Stratford, don't chose this one!
Great Hotel and Location
This was my first visit to Stratford and the Moat House Hotel. We booked a Crown Room which was excellent. The room had a huge bed and a CD player with a nice view towards the RSC Theatre. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was excellent. It is in the centre of Stratford right on the river and canal and across the road you will find the Tourist Information Centre. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to return.
The staff is top notch and the hotel amenities are well above average.
Great food and drink.
we had a bad weekend here last month,so bad that we left the hotel a day early although we had paid in full, still waiting to hear from the head office! Ihave stayed in various Moat hotels ALL have been excellent.....maybe this was a one off but I WOULD never stay there again.
Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?
I spent a couple of nights here very recently and it was very good indeed. Lovely bedrooms (Crown), quiet, huge car park, food very good.
A short walk from the town centre, so it is well situated if you don't want to use your car all the time. Recommended, I would stay there again.
Super good location, excellent prices, very good rooms including river view. good free breakfast, lots of free parking, very fast check in and check out service. I could not ask for more. We had a very good stay at this hotel.
Extremely friendly staff
Spent a whole week here and could not fault it.Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Will certainly return.
The other reviewer must have been having a bad day.Stayed here for the 12th time in the last year in transit to meetings.Always good. Usually pretty cheap too.Never any real problems - lovely rooms, helpful staff, river views, gym and sauna, excellent breakfast in pleasing surroundings. The two small problems I have experienced were rectified immediately on contacting reception. I can't think that the reviewer from Herftordshire is representative of the vast majority of guests. The place is great - keep up the good work.
From the moment we checked in things went terribly wrong........wrong sleeping arrangements, poor information, queing for meals in the restaurant for up to 30 mins, had to get your own tea, coffee from a machine which had ran out of water..nobody filled.........left dirty dishes on the table in between meals and to cap it all......the chef sneezing on the food in the restaurant......I HAVE HAD BETTER SERVICE IN DEBENHAMS CAFE!!!!!
