Hello again,
We have returned home now, but as I am now over 60, it takes me a little while to get things done. That's my excuse anyway.
So here is our Belgium experience !
We boarded the Eurostar in Paris for our 2 hour journey through Brussels into Bruges. Bruges is in the north of the country near Oostend on the coast and is truly delightful. We stayed in the historical centre and it reminded us of Venice, just smaller ...

... have ever seen. The high plain ceilings blended into rich displays of black and white marble and the centre was separated by a walkway going all the way around it. It was beautiful and elegant, but not over the top: a real gem.

We have to go to a liquor shop, like our off licence, which is separate to the supermarket. There is a beautiful view from the club overlooking the estuary and we could see the wicked gusts coming from all directions. We would not have liked to be out there is a dinghy.

We played Rummikub before bed and John won both ...

... to a vacation. Our bed and breakfast was simply excellent and the owners made us feel right at home. It's nice to have a "home away from home", or in this case, Berlin. I would definitely stay with them again the next time I'm in Brugge and given the remainder of Flemish bistros, local pubs, homemade ice cream shops, and waffle houses listed left in the guidebook, another food-themed adventure to Brugge isn't out of the question!
