Then moved the car - it was busy when we arrived, and we thought we'd left the car in a decent spot, but when we came back, it just might have been a towaway zone. If so, we were lucky so thanks to whoever or whatever was looking out for us. Moved it to a proper car park and went to the beach. I can't remember the last time Jerry and I had sun beds under a beach umbrella, but we read ...

I loved the contrast between the darkness of the wood and the vivid colours of the icons. I bought and lit a candle before leaving. ... at Yo-Ho Hostel their printer wasn't working, so instead of printing out a street map of the route from the bus station to our guesthouse in Burgas, I drew it on a piece of paper. We took a taxi from there to the private bus station, where we got straight onto a minibus to Burgas. The woman at the ticket desk had told me we had to pay the driver, not her, so we did so before we got on. 14 leva each for a two-and-a-half-hour journey - not bad!
