... which incredible examples of artwork and craftsmanship Luckily My time in Venice the streets were dry. Before you book your trip check the weather and don't come at high ride. The city is literally underwater up to your knees. There were stacked tables that are used to create runways between the moats as constant reminders that the water is not too far away. I visited the amazing Aqua Alta bookstore where they have decided to embrace the water ...

... away the bad spirits of winter. We walked around town and enjoyed the music while drinking beer on the street! Then we went to the Mozartplatz area where we enjoyed some spiced wine next to a bon fire in the middle of the city under the stars - it was very romantic and one of the highlights for me! We boarded the train back to Munich to ensure we arrived with plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and board our sleeper train for our next stop...

... Austria. In fact, our guide mentioned that a sixty four million dollar question (or some other huge amount) on a TV quiz show had been about which Austrian flower was featured in a song in Sound of Music. Even when the contestant 'called a friend', the answer given was incorrect. Edelweiss was a Rogers and Hammerstein song written especially for the movie! It is very hot here in Salzburg - about ...

Step One: Goodbye England, Hello Europe!

A travel blog entry by evanbelldvm on Aug 02, 2013

The suitcase has been left behind and now only the backpack remains! This truly is the start of the big adventure. Starting this trip closer to home base (London), I got a chance to bid adieu to some of the friends I met in the city. The first day I ventured to the Tower of London to see the beefeaters and the royal jewels. While the whole attraction I felt was a little overrated (other than the actual tour which was interesting), seeing the Crown Jewels was really impressive! ...
