... were optional excursions we didn't sign up for which the group was heading off to do. We had our own plan of action for today. It was now just before 9:00 and we had six and a half hours to sightsee before our reserved time slot at Anne Frank's house.

We meandered up and down so many streets, taking time to peruse the many goods available for purchase. Along the way we discovered samples of cheeses, cookies, candies, etc. The sights of this city for the most part ...

We saw a 'general store' where the architecture had goddesses holding up the building because women were the stronghold of the society. We all decided that we would go for a walk through the red light district just to see what it's all about and if all the stories you hear are true. Three hours later, we arrived in Amsterdam.

Aunt and cousins had all arrived a few hours before us. We are ready for a fun weekend with little sleep. Amsterdam is hectic and crowded and a party town. We'll be partying too, but of a different kind, I expect. Sleep can wait for the plane flight home.

... and definitely belied the deliciousness of many of the them. The next morning I said goodbye to all but 7 of my tour mates who were driving back to London that day. It was super sad to say goodbye to such awesome new friends, although thanks to things like Facebook, I know we will all stay in contact. I had such a good time overall that I would definitely recommend a camping tour for anyone that wants to do a contiki. We all got so close from having to hang out ...
