A single malt - red eye
Let me first start by saying the red-eye from Perth-Melb-Hobart is brutal especially if you plan to jump in a car for 5 hours. Let me re-iterate...I do NOT suggest this, even if you aren't driving for so long (let me explain in a bit). We were all left tired and worse for wear.
This was a family trip for my parents and myself, a quick …
Off to Strahan
another big breakfast and walked through frost to get there. I really didn't want to leave Cradle mountatin, but Dave says he was ready for the next leg. Iwas actually a really nice drive to Strahan apart from stopping at Tullah a very picturesqu place with the worst coffe in the world …more like warm milk, anyway the lake was nice. The …
Strahan to Launceston and a 52nd Birthday
29th
Today we had a quiet one with a short walk to Hogarth Falls and then around the waterfront to where the steam train leaves from. And then later drinks and Tapas in the nice restaurant bar place overlooking the village. Quite a good place to update the blog. This was the one place that was comfortable in this accomodation. …
The Wild West Wilderness

Each panel is 3 metres high and 1 metre wide. This ambitious self funded art project has ...
The Wild West Country
... beach and walked up towards the peninsular to see the lighthouses and the harbour entrance which was pretty spectacular. The sea water was a strange dark brown colour (like coke) very much like the water at Dove Lake and in the middle of the harbour we could see sand bar's forming, so I just can't understand how boats can come in and out of that harbour. It's so weird to be on an amazing sandy beach and for there not to be anyone within sight at all, and we didn't ...
TravelPod Member ReviewsComfort Inn Strahan
Strahan is a little town but the smiles are huge. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. I stayed in a cottage room, the downstairs room in the white 2 story. Great little room with a nice view of the water. The only downside was the buffet at the restaurant. If you're vego, your choice is salad. I had to go back to my meat eating ways and wasn't that satisfied. Otherwise, great location and atmosphere.
