Arrived back at the main land to get a taxi to Sambeto, the sleeping giants woodlands. I was informed from a fellow traveller in Tahiti that I must go to Stoney Creek Resort. So I did and yes it is a very nice place but nobody was there. 2 old couples, a family and another young who all checked out two days later. I had booked up for 6 nights until my flight to Sydney but I decided pretty quickly not to stay. Over that night I decided I would splash out the cash and return to "Octopussy" our...

... we would be staying at. The time flew by as we got chatting to a couple who we would be spending the next few nights with. It turned out it is a small world. We were at the furthest point from home, yet they both lived not far from Robs parents (Radlett and Mill Hill) and regularly attend football matches at Arsenal a few rows behind Robs family!

Tavewa island (Coral View Resort)

We were picked up, mid-ocean by a smaller boat which transported us across ...
Fiji, Fiji robeckie... I dont think so, but amused me!

I had two nights at the island and then i went to Koravue island which was lovely as well the whole trip really was basically just chilling out sunbathing, reading and early nights - i know what has happened to me! However it was just what i needed after the East Coast! I then spent my last night at South Sea Island and that look about 4 minutes to walk around i just loved it and was sad that i only had one night there! The next ...

Iles Fiji, Fiji sabaustralisim... and it has power 24/7, which is rare on this island: most of them have 2, 4 or 6 hours of electricity/day. There is no mains, they work on generators! The prices of the dives on the web site are no updated since 2006: a bit of a surprise! We paid 100 Euro/day/person for them. Including a lovely lunch on a deserted beach of the island Vanua Levu. Our pizza experience: nonono, not an Italian, just a local chef, who makes pizzas. Tramonto restaurant, 5 minutes ...
Naselesele village, Viti Levu, Fiji tonyandmarina... of you after they had just poured you a morning orange juice, having food poisoning or finding a cockroach in your plane meal on leaving the country. It surely had to be better this time around - and indeed it was. The first few days were spent on the main island of Vitu Levu acclimitising, before we hired a car and headed along the south coast to Beqa Lagoon to shark dive- thats right....you heard me correctly SHARK DIVE. That is diving with sharks - you know...the ones that kill ...
Viti Levu, Fiji ditch... that, despite being very good at catching, she throws like a girl - launching the egg with some venom at my feet! After our defeat, the day passed uneventfully and, by the evening, it was strange to realise we'd not actually done anything much at all - in contrast to our busy time in America. Indeed, my only achievement of the day was a coral neclace made from some of the many pieces washed up on the beach, joined together by dental-floss, which received a somewhat ...
Navua, Viti Levu, Fiji ajbatty... day, to see if the weather and the beaches have improved, oh what a shame! The start of the week was ok, we had 2 and a half days of sunbathing on the loungers by the pool so it really felt like a holiday then, but when the rain started there was nothing to do except read (which is difficult when you've finished the only book you brought to the island) or play cards... i dread to think how many games of Rummi have taken place this week! We made up ...
Viti Levu, Fiji hellizac... Fijian drink that is Kava. A carpet was laid out by the pool, and the guests all sat down as a large, loud, grinning Fijian woman named Tequila ("Hi! My name Tequila! Tequila the Gorilla! HAHAHAHA! Ha!") set about explaining the intricacies of the Kava ceremony. After a hurried retreating under cover when the heavens opened, she continued... Kava, it seems, is what the Fijians drank before the white man introduced them to the myriad joys of booze. It doesn't contain ...
