Two days all about driving and quite a bit of it in the rain. The 275 mile drive across Iowa, literally a straight line due west on Hwy 20, was under a big black shifting cloud changing from mist to rain to a few bright spots to heavy foreboding gloom again. Not at all conducive to taking photos let alone stopping anywhere other than for short get-out-and-walk-about-a-bit breaks at truck stops.
Even so, I ...
Happy 10th Birthday today to sweet Grand Daughter Kristen Jane! Left Wall SD today, traveling through South Dakota. Interesting deer sculpture at the truck stop. Along this route lots of Sunflower fields and the most round hay bales I have ever seen in one area! Stopped off at the rest area near chamberlain SD for lunch. Beautiful views of the Missouri River here as well as a cool exhibit about Lewis & Clark. Stayed the night in Sloan Iowa. ...
Sioux City... Actually North Sioux City which is in South Dakota as opposed to Sioux City which is in Iowa and South Sioux City which is in Nebraska. We were in all threes states within ten minutes time. We went to the Sergeant Floyd River Boat and learned much about Sergeant Floyd the Lewis and Clark expedition. Craig heard there was a candy shop downtown so we had to go the Palmer's Old Tyme Candy Shoppe and buy a bag full!
We got back here yesterday, picked up the car, complete with new baseplate, and we were trained in how to hook it up when we're ready to. This park is SOOO nice, with concrete pads, great power, internet, grass, and beautiful landscaping. And at ZERO cost, it sure can't be beat, even though it's in Pender!
Getting a tour of the Blue Ox Tow Products plant tomorrow.
ARrived here this afternoon - our site was waiting for us, and tomorrow morning, we'll leave the Camaro here so Blue Ox can design and build a baseplate for it.
Very weird driving by Thurston Avenue this afternoon - spent way too many hot summer days and nights there visiting my exe's Aunt Nina!
