      ... s Quarters bookends the old Fort Winnebago. Again a great history stop, highly recommended. The canal connecting the two drainages runs right along side it. It opened with such great hopes in 1876, but superseded by both the Illinois/Michigan canal and railroads it never reached its full potential. Today it lies closed and stagnant.

      Arrived yesterday afternoon at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Staying at a campground where our dear friends Robin and Steve Albertson have a permanent site.       Today we arrived in Baileys Harbor, in the lovely Door County, WI (Cape Cod of the Midwest!), our home for the next five days.

      Getting here over the last two days was beautiful. After sleeping 10 hours (!), we left Charlevoix mid-morning for a walk along the beach at Fisherman's Island State Park.
