... meandering through. One area with a mix of a wide tract of grass with smaller rocks with a background of massive columns, looked like a scene from “Jurassic Park” minus the dinosaurs. Well! We were told to use our imaginations!!!!! The centre of the area we visited had a flat paved spot fronting onto a grotto of huge rocks with inscriptions of the past where many Chinese tourists congregated and of ...

... along a scenic and easily accessible part of the old Tea Horse Trail from Yunnan to Tibet. Caravans brought tea from the south and returned with horses from the north We stayed at the Green Lake Hotel, a fancy hotel across from a great park. Although we were tired, we found a nearby shop and bought a cell phone to use, then walked around the park, trying to stay awake until a respectable ...

... She explained that although the rule is still very much in place, if you are an only child and marry someone who is also an only child then you are allowed to have two children. If that is not the case and you have more than one child then you are required to pay the government large sums of money. ... The building industry is all go, lots of oldish apartment blocks have been demolished and new high rise ones are going up. The traffic is pretty crazy and crossing the road is a challenge. A lot people have electric motor-scooters which are silent and go flying all over the place often with three or so people on board. After a breather at Lewis' apartment we went for a walk to the market. On the way there we passed all these tiny shops, the size of ...

... I might as well go somewhere. It’s all been planned last minute – within the last hour! So my plan is to go to a place called ‘Dali’ around 250miles northwest from here. Hoping to go there by sleeper train at 11pm or 11:30pm which should take around 7hours. I’ll then find somewhere to stay for a few days when I get there and go back to Kunming on the Sunday.

So we’ll see how it all works ...
