We woke from our kind of sleep to stunning views from the windows as the train neared Villach and the Austrian Alps. We had realised that we were close to the Rosental valley, so decided that we should have a quick explore before finding a campsite with the aim of finding some tacky Rosental souvenir. ... our hike that we were on the steep, challenging climb up. This wouldn't have been too bad, except for the fact that Erenna and I were in flip flops and the path was really muddy and slippery. ... trees at a working farm. There's no restaurant but an honesty-box fridge stacked with beer. Later a young Austrian couple stroll over. They are going for pizza, and would we like some fetching. Oh yes please.


So with pizza and beer for supper we set up camp on lush grass beneath shady trees. It's very warm and for the first time camping on this trip there is no dew next morning.

... You get to walk around and inside these old buildings to see what life was like. I liked the timber nails they used to hold the buildings together. With the sun shining for a fourth day in a row, we headed out to Wörthersee where we hired a pedal boat and went for a pedal and swim.
