Siiiiiiiiii
We arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... lunch was served buffet style on the main deck so everyone could eat at their leasure and were it was the most convenient for them.
Waterskiing is very exhausting and after a few hours of playing on the water, the crew loaded everything up and we headed down to coast to the small village of sa Calobra on the Cala de Calobra.
Just south of the town of Portocristo are the Cuevas del Drach, which are really four caves all connected to each other. This cave however has a large lake in it, called Martel Lake. It's large enough to ride a boat in and to see all the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. It’s a beautiful place ...
Porto Cristo, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourney10 days of enjoying the good life up in the north of Mallorca.
After a turbulent trip I finally arrived on the very first day of my summerholidays and got picked up by my sister and her friend for some shopping in Palma! (Luckily we did not get affected by the ETA attacks, we heared about that much later that day!)
The rest of the day though I spend sleeping at the beach- not ...
... the girls some instructions on the beach (like how not to fall off the boat) and there we went... I took them out one by one and we had a really good time. Although the girls didn´t know how to sail, they managed really well, especially going out in the trapez. So we did some speeding up and down the bay! So exhausted in the evening!!
In the evenings we always cooked outside on the terrasse, barbecuing fresh fish ...
... the bend. It's a very popular road with bicyclists who routinely ignore multiple signs telling them to ride single file meaning I have to be really careful I don't turn one of them into a hood ornament.
From Orient it's back to the main road to continue north toward Sóller. First stop is the Port then back inland to the town of Sóller itself. Sóller is a beautiful little town whose streets are lined with Plane Trees and the 18th and 19th century buildings have ...
My first destination this morning was Alcúdia. This time not to take pictures but to browse the open air market. Wow. I was surprised by the size of this market. For anybody coming to Mallorca, skip the other markets... this is the one to go to. I assumed Palma, being the large city that it is, would have the largest market. Not so. The market in Alcúdia is easily 3 to 4 times the size of either of the two markets I went to in Palma ...
Formentor, Balearic Islands, Spain graybeardMaths in the square at night, being awesome at the quiz, teaching it to swim, vodka and top trumps each night, the boy crying about play club, the boy loving play club, the convertible red beast (megane), fred dancing with me, all the AWFUL people that go to those places (us not included)
Majorca, Balearic Islands, Spain thesanchez... from the shore. What I saw was amazing. This was my first time snorkelling and although I had imagined what it must be like, all my expectations were again wrong. It was much better. As I floated in the water closely observing how two silver fish played around with a baby jellyfish, after I swam through a school of tiny orange colored fish, and after I followed another pink jellyfish around as it lazily floated about, I excitedly called out to Ed who was ...
