Day 17 in the Smith campervan

The day began like most, showers then breakfast AL fresco, we made pancakes with fruit. As we have no campsites booked from now on we had taken a look at the maps last night and listed some sites in the black forest as we now head slowly back towards Holland. We eventually got on the boat and had an amazing trip around the cute canals of Amsterdam. Really worth it once we got going. Once we finished we decided to get some lunch. It wasn't too hard to find some food and drinks and there are McDonalds in Amsterdam. ...

Wine vallages and a mayday festival.

... demonstrates the enormous disruption of inserting a tram network into a city centre. At one corner was a pile driver banging in a 20m high steel tube to support the overhead power for instance. In the main square the tubes are a huge eyesore against the yellow and white plaster of the church.

Anyway a glance at the map today suggests that Karlruhe is at the top of the Schwartzwald; one of the objectives for the trip and it’s ...
