The final thing we did on Sunday was drive along the scenic road that winds up and through the Black Forest. The second stop into the Black Forest region was the Maulbronn Abbey, a Monastery built sometime in the 1300s. The pamphlet we got mentioned it was over 800 years old, but I'm getting confused as some components were a little younger than that, like 600 years old. In any case, it was incredible. They had some descriptions of the masonry that was done to construct it. I just can't imagine the hard work ...

... hard to resist so I didn’t! And the wurst was rather good.

Returning to the Rhein valley and it was obvious that the narrow picturesque charm was now an open sprawling plain and the journey was more agricultural / suburban. The journey also featured near motorway and closed roads. The latter making the GPS work a bit harder.
However I reached the planned destination about 2pm so decided to see if it was worth pushing on. ...
