    ... to the bottom of the estate to the dining room for 8am only to find it was all still locked up. I then thought the chap must have been right saying 9am and so walked back to my room and packed my bike and rested until about 08h50 then walked down again.This time I found one of the workers sitting outside who informs me that breakfast only starts at 10am!!     ... I am travelling a little slower I can get about 220 miles to a tank but it is silly to take the chance.

    The E6 here started off forest lined with Silver Birch and Pine. I had the usual raging rapids running along side of the road. From high off the mountains waterfalls cascaded down. Here and there the odd lake, there is plenty of water here.

    After warming up on the bus for a few hours we stopped off at the Arctic circle centre. This was pretty good as it had a bit more information about living in the harsh conditions of this area. I can't imagine what it would be like living there in winter. It would be so dark, cold and miserable. We kept driving further north for the rest of the day and finally stopped for the night in a campsite in the middle of nowhere in a region called Tysfjord. This area only has 2000 people living in it ...

    We finished up our Norway trip by travelling to the Lofoten Islands and making a pilgrimage to Ramsund, the city nearest the Melsby family farmstead location. We took a ferry from Tromsø to Harstad, where we rented a car and drove to Lødingen - we stayed at a wonderful, cute, clean, convenient hotel.
