Chicago, IL: Day 4

A travel blog entry by bronny23 on Feb 27, 2015

I'm so glad we decided to come to Chicago a day earlier than planned - I love this city! If this is as bad as it gets (so I'm told, because of the winter weather), than I have no doubt that it absolutely flourishes in the summer time. I hope I get the opportunity to come back and visit in summer time too, but the winter weather has been so worth it. I was getting annoyed at people down south who continually told us we were mad and to avoid Chicago in winter at all ...

I thought a lot about this when I was on my walk, and even had a couple of "chats" with her along the way. I hope she will come along on the rest of my journeys so we can experience 49 and beyond together somehow.

Thank you all for joining me on the ride. Until next time.... Buen Camino.

... cold weather which has curtailed a lot of our walking plans. Because we were prepared with suitable clothes and boots we weren't ever too uncomfortably cold.

We are leaving for New York on tomorrow night's train, so will have to start packing soon, only taking a small overnight bag for the sleeper. Changing trains at Washington DC. Should arrive in NYC around 5pm on Thursday, and take a taxi to our apartment.

Architectural Nerds!

... neon light. The glitzy and colourful facades of each theatre gave the district a wonderful vibe, full of character and history, so much so that the whirling wind could have been mistaken for whispers of colourful stories from years past. As we kept walking we eventually left the shadowy, breezy and desolate streets and entered bustling, sunny streets lined with american flags...what a dramatic change of scene within 1-2 blocks. Why so many people all of the sudden? It all ...
