Wow.
One month to go. I am still in Bulgaria. Decisions when you travel somehow always turn out to be magical and predict the best experiences in life on the road. After spending a few 'extra' days in Varna with my new friends from Belfast I took a few days off to head North to Veliki Tarnovo. Simply choosing to jump on that bus brought me here. I met an American fella who is also traveling alone . . When my morning ...

Mesec i po dana - Predstavnik

Hm... Kako bih poceo o utiscima?

Poluprazni hoteli, poluprazni restorani, poluprazni autobusi ...

Plovdiv to Nessebar (on the Black Sea)

10th June

Plovdiv to Nessebar (on the Black Sea)

Sunny 30 degrees

We made our way out of Plovdiv through the city and then along a cobbled road where we saw another stork nest, this time on a church steeple. The drive to Nessebar was fairly easy with some motorways and reasonably wide roads. The passed huge fields of barley, sunflowers (not yet flowering) and vineyards. We arrived at Nessebar but found it is only open to residential traffic so had to park ...

A short day

... signs; this town has accomodation. Much later I went into a large park with trees and shady promenades; someone cared about this place. Its great and there are lots of people about. I follow it towards town and come across a tower block with Hotel on top. that's how i like my hotels. At first they say all they have is a luxury suite the other lady points out singles. Its 50 levs with breakfast; I decide to look around for other hotels to be sure. So ...

... coastline. Back into the town you get to another of the major sites, the church of Pantocrator. This site is located in a pretty, picturesque squares near to a open air market. Although Nessebar is a nice town to spend a few hours and makes a change from the commercialism of the rest of the Black Sea coast, there was little else to see after this so after a bite to eat I caught the ferry back to Sunny Beach.

Finally - our little town!

... only lasted about a half an hour and then we went back to the keyboard guy and the singer. So we had to sit though a fair bit of them with ¾ of a bottle of wine. Were not sure if they were over staffed but they mostly stood watching and then quickly come over to top up your wine or whisk away the food before Greg was able to clean his plate. Anyway after 2 bottles I was a bit of a drunkie and we enjoyed 2 crepes (one which was so hot it ...

MTV Spirt of Burgas

Burgas was hosting the first ever MTV Spirit of Burgas festival with Groove Armada, Koseen, Ministry of Sound etc. It was situated on the beach, had an electric atmosphere, great music and was bouncing! All for £20 as well. If you happen to see the festival on MTV you will probably see me & G. Aside from the festival there is nothing happening in Burgas.

Sunny Beach - Blackpool in Bulgaria

Sunny Beach is a holiday resort on the coast of Bulgaria. It's basically sunbathe all day and booze all night. Lots of British, Sweedish, Norwegian, Dutch and German tourists. Not the nicest place in the world but good for a chill out and a few nights on the lash.

Off Roadýng.. Velkas to Malko Tarnovo

... The irony was, that eventually, a couple of sweaty and bumpy hours later, I popped out of the forest onto the red road. It was big, fast and devoid of any traffic. My overnight stop on the border in Malko Tarnovo turned out to be a brand new hobby hotel built by the local architect. I had a dip in the pool, watch a bit of telly on the plasma tv in my room, sat in the garden with a beer while the sun set. Bliss. And all for £30.

The Black Sea coast

... of fun. The locals habit of shaking their heads for yes and nodding for no is definately confusing, but everyone here is very friendly even though not many people speak English. Its a very poor country, there are plenty of examples of that, from the rundown state of almost everything to the occasional horse and cart you see on major roads. However the scenery is fantastic and i found it to be an overall far more interesting place then most people give it credit (in Europe at least!).
