Out of the blocks at 7:40. At the hauptbahnhof before 7:50. We are beginning our excursion to Basel. I may have mentioned it before but I cannot recall - our original plan was to arrive in Speyer, get settled, then, next morning, jump a train to Basel to see the fireworks. We had reservations at the YMCA Hostel for the night of August 1.

HOWEVER!!!! During out trip to Prague, Joan was speaking with some folks who were from the area ...

... it! Fantastic ride. Then headed to Landgastehouse Sternan, at todtmoos, where we were booked in for the night. A bit out of the way, but a really nice place. Ate dinner in their restaurant, probably some of the best meat we have ever eaten in our life. Not expensive at all, either. After dinner, sat on our balcony overlooking a little stream and watched it get dark. Another fantastic day ...

... day. When we did eat, it was delicious! Lots of meat, cheeses, vegetables, and bread to help oneself too. It was very hard not to eat everything! I'm glad I didn't because we found out the Eis Cafe (ice cream) was open until 11 so we walked down for a late treat. Isabell and I shared a large one with fruit in the middle. MMMMM! Can you imagine I was tired after all that? Tomorrow - a monastery and street ...

... with 24 year old douchebags who just stare at you and occasionally nod, which you're supposed to understand means "yes, you can go through" or "no, come over here". I was also pretty sure I was now walking into Switzerland, just like the Von Trapps. I had 45 mins to make my connection, which involved walking 15 mins to a train, being driven to another terminal, walking another 10 mins (in a perfect circle, Germans!) then going through security again, just so I have to buy more ...
