Baja California: An alternative Thanksgiving.
My brother and I are driving there tomorrow. Yes, MEXICO. I obviously can't go longer than a few month without leaving the country. It's a road trip. Road trips are my absolute favorite kind of trips! Driving, camping and beachin'. I won't have internet, so I'll have to update when I'm back in Salt Lake next week.
... you like to see the press box?" So we were escorted up to the second highest level in the box and look out over the field and the gorgeous mountains beyond while our Air Force guys were in warm ups. Awesome!
There was a lot of pain in the way the game went, but... we also took come chances that we don't normally take. So I was definitely proud of our guys. Final score: BYU 38, AF 21.
Now we are happily installed in the Super 8, a ...
... icy, but the icier the snow the faster you go! Nothing wrong with that :)
I learned to snowboard at Brighton about 11 years ago. My dad had to spend years waiting for me at the bottom of the hill, but now I have to wait for him!
... br>Example of one phone call:
"Hello"
"Hi, we're out front"
"No I'm out front"
"We're here."
"What? No I'm outside? Do you want me to go around the building?"
"There is no around. We're here."
Hang up. Frustration. Happily we sorted ourselves out and (with minimal getting-lostness) we found the restaurant. We settled on Bayou, a Cajun inspired restaurant that boasted a ginormous beer list. Good food and good drinks? We were in. Dinner was fab. We caught up, had some ...
... my toes were tingling. Anyway, it was really nice to see Loren again. He really is a cool guy. I obviously first met him on my last trip here as I stayed with him and Maren, and we got on really well, so I consider him a good friend now. Anyway, since I was also hungry, on the way to their house Loren stopped off at Wendy's so I could get a burger. He paid for this as he said it was the least he could do for leaving me at the airport. He's such a nice guy.
That was it then for ...
... he had washed our entire car! Guess he thought we should get what our money's worth.
In San Carlos we went scuba diving with sea lions, which was an amazing experience, but a bit scary at the same time. They would swim right at your face and then suddenly turn and swim away. Interesting. This was when I was a teenager, I think about 16, after getting open-water certified in a pool in Utah. Mexico was my first time scuba diving in the ocean.

... hanging on by July. Perhaps the extra precipitation is to blame for the mosquito problem.
One really neat part about this trail is that you can see the notch in the mountain as you approach Wall Lake, and as you continue on you eventually reach a series of switchbacks that lead you through the notch. Very cool. On this particular trip the notch was covered in snow so we had to climb up the mountain through the snow ...

... realizing that we see this stuff every day in good old NYC. Time was now quickly dwindling away, so we decided to leave, but had to stop off at the World's Largest Gift Shop, as it claimed to be, to find a gnome. Our attempts were unsuccessful, leaving us temporarily disappointed. Finally, we were ready to leave. We made one final unscheduled stop at one of Vegas' known pawn shops. I bid farewell to my paintball gun that had served me so well for many many years. Time ...

Isaac felt certain that there were no gold plates, and that Joseph was plotting some elaborate fraud. But Emma remained loyal to her husband, dutifully taking down Joseph's dictation, hour after hour, day after day. The words Joseph spoke through his hat told the story of Jewish families which had migrated to America from Israel in the seventh century before ...
