    ... of anyone so we drove away. We tried another campsite 2 miles up the road according to the satnav but that was also closed, despite ringing the out of hours bell.     From a tour perspective, we strongly recommend that if you take a tour here, you try to do it on a clear day, and remember that barely NOTHING remains of the compound because rightly so, the Allies wanted to destroy anything and everything that Hitler and the Nazi Party stood for.

    Sorry the blog isn't more uplifting, but it's not a subject that any of us took lightly.

    Had a fabulous afternoon in Strasbourg, what a wonderful place ,ah well be back for a long weekend. Loved all the old medieval buildings so well preserved the cathedral was amazing with beautiful stain glass windows, apparently during World War Two the French took all the windows out and sent them away for safe storage but when Hitler arrived he insisted they were all put back and thankfully they all survived the war.     ... rest time due to the fact that it took him 4 1/2 hours to get from Cologne a trip that should only have taken 3. Finally we got underway and I've never seen driving like it, there didn't seem to be any Highway Code it was just everyone for themselves. We finally made got through Brussels and onto the ring road 2 hours later and the ring road was just the same. We eventually got to the ship 5hours later. Not many happy customers ...
