It's our 13th wedding anniversary today and we have escaped parenthood and other distractions by leaving Nathan with Omi in Stuttgart and staying in this amazing hotel for a night. Already spent two hours at Caracela Thermal Spa and then a half hour massage (noice). Found a great restaurant called Leo's for dinner and quickly decided to stay a few hours longer tomorrow.
Learning and Seeing European Politics
... liked the gothic architecture. Nobody was talking and all the candles were lighted so you felt as if you were in another world. I went into the church alone because all of my classmates have grown up around beautiful churches and are not the least bit interested in them (which I find a bit sad). Over the weekend I traveled with my Aunt to visit her boyfriend, Carlos, in Pfalz, Germany. It is a beautiful, ancient looking part of Germany with historical architecture, rolling fields and is right on the French boarder. As you drive through the towns in Fals all the locals are selling apples, pumpkins and new wine and speak with an original German dialect (a mixture of German slang and French). Oh what a night!!
... out that we needed refreshments. I am so proud of myself. I ordered 2 local white lagers on tap. Granted I had my phrase book in front of me, the bartender smiled and was happy to serve us. I felt so good about my speaking ability that I asked for another. When in france!! We went back to the hotel to meet Marlin and here we sit waiting for him to take us to some Tomb restaurant. we are in strasbourg! we took the train back to mulhouse from paris and then drove about an hour to strasbourg. it was dark but we could see the lights of castels in the mountains and lite up steeples in the small villzges scattering the countyside. from what we've seen from our small walk last night and the hotel windows the city is beautiful. we will do some major exploring today. it was a struggle last ...
