I will be setting out for Tucson Arizona at 6:30 AM Thursday the 19th. I have never visited Tucson so I am excited to see this beautiful city. I am hoping the flights will be uneventful- since I am traveling to Denver 1st( where they just got 14 inches of ...

As I close out this blog, I want to reflect for a minute or two on what I saw at the Biennial Convention. I saw young nurses at the Biennial Convention. With stars in their eyes and a great deal of intelligence these people are determined to make a difference in our society. I also saw mid-career nurses who have good research trajectories with both accomplished and ongoing projects. I also saw retired nurses who were there ...
Today was the seating of the House of Delegates and the morning was used to address the Biennial Report, recognize and congratulate the newly chartered chapters and recongize those chapters where there had been an amended charter. There were a number of presentations throughout the afternoon and I chose to go to one devoted to teaching clinical nursing through the use of avatars in ...
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States ckopacLast evening I went to STTI Headquarters. I am really glad that I got to visit the building. There is an incredible sense of "standing on the shoulders" of the great nurses who have come before us. As I walked throughout the buidling and I saw inscriptions, the pavers' wall, the tribute wall and I recognized names of former teachers and authors ...

The Tribute Awards Luncheon was very special. During this event, individual research, publications, media, technology, leadership and elder care were highlighted. Best of all, our Dean, Jean Johnson, and our Department Chairperson, Ellen Dawson received a technology award for the NNEPI Project.

The opening Plenary Session was at 1:30 pm. Dr. Carol Huston, the outgoing STTI President, began by reminding us of our past and present; 87 years ago six women had a vision of a nursing organization that would champion love, honor and courage. Those women founded STTI and now in 2009, we have 130,000+ members and there are 437 chapters worldwide in 90 countries. This is indeed impressive!
Dr. Huston did a review of the Organization's accomplishments ...
The Biennial Convention is being held at the Convention Center in Indianapolis. All of the hotels surrounding the Center are connected by an enclosed walkway (very convenient for this often windy city). "Check in" occurred yesterday continuing through today and there is Delegate verification which I also accomplished this morning. Among the 30 ...
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States ckopacHello, everyone! The plane left Dulles airport 30 minutes late and I arrived in Indianapolis after dark (it was also raining and windy). The trip to the hotel was approximately 30 minutes and I had a late dinner while I reviewed the Delegate packet. It's been 12 years since I attended an STTI Biennial Convention and a few things have changed. The organization has gotten ...
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States ckopacGood day although a bit windy. It kept me awake, most of the time... Sunny here and a balmy 10C forecast for tonight. Great WiFi connection, lots of digital channels (33) on the antenna, countless ones on cable plus the satellite (any idea why?). Time to read a bit to get comfy with my upcoming Vietnam trip. As they say everywhere now, have a good one! Jacques
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States averynet... a month-long craving of mine to have all-you-can-eat buffalo wings, and would fulfill the Nelson's life-long craving to spend time with their children. We like to work win-win :)
Kelsey and I arrived downtown before her parents did. We walked around "The Circle", a monument-stamped, brick-laden center of town with neat things to see. We found a Border's, and bought a copy of Peaks and Valleys. We intend to reference it a lot this year.
Dinner with ...
