    Last Few Days in the Midwest

    ... Missouri River" while I'm away. ...rivers can't sense sarcasm, right? Just last year the river rose over 30 feet, filling Cooper's store with over 18 inches of muddy water.

    Anyways, really hope that doesn't end up being foreshadowing. Our plane leaves on August 4. Starting to really feel the prelude to adventure!

    ... as the comeback for Roger Miller "back in the day" that salvaged his career. It was very well done and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
    After the show, we got ice cream (part of the tour package) at the Rexall Drug store still in operation. Some folks walked down the street to browse in the Ben Franklin store.     Beautiful morning with no humidity and a temperature of 74 degrees when we pulled out of the campground in Granite City. Almost immediately we crossed the Mississippi River and stopped for gas about a half hour later. Gas was only $3.18/gallon and we did find out that our credit card allows us to charge only a certain amount at a time. So far, we have not filled the tank totally but get close.

    ... day...right? he replied: "well...they've all closed...I hear horror stories..I wouldn't eat here if I were you...I'd go somewhere else". Hmmm. So...I did. The next time I pulled off and drove down the street...I saw the most interesting and beautiful small brick homes! I am going to take a few photos on the way back down that street and you'll see what I mean. Anyway, I see a beautiful old shop on the right..a violin ...
