      Pre-Hike Setup

Mitch and I left for Crooked Creek Parking parking lot, Yellowwood State Forest, after work to drop my car off at the end of the trail, well 2 miles shy of the end. We got to Morgan-Monroe State Forest around 8:00 PM and setup camp at the campground. We were the only campers that night and was fortunately the only night we had rain.

... but not within 4 miles of the car.

There were no detours today but today was probably the worst hiking day due to all the roads and my knee and foot hurting. The end of the trail, 2 miles out from the car and 2 miles back, was well worth the trip. The end may even be a good starting point to camp at and start off from on our next pass thru. We, Mitch didn't move from his sleeping bag until 7:30 AM, got up at 7:00 AM today but got a late start at around 8:45 AM. The weather was still a bit cold at 40

We stopped about 4 miles in to sync up with Ryan. We had quite a bit of road/gravel road ...

... was detour in the hike due to logging, which we knew about, but we failed to take the alternate route, which messed up our sense of direction at a Y and we went back north for almost .5 mile, thank you compass. One should take the left trail once coming upon the trail sign for this detour. Even with this detour, we made it to camp around 4:30 PM at the Foxes Den Shelter. The ...

Wednesday afternoon we visited this wonderful Kenyan orphanage. We basically held babies for hours. Pastor Janice is now the new director for this orphanage. We learned about how it was started and how it runs. We met a doctor who helped to start the pro life movement in Kenya. She runs a ministry that takes in pregnant single mothers. She loves on them and shows them the love of Jesus. Many of the women have given ...
