... you know, you don't pick the boot, the boot picks you". Yeah, I have heard that before... in a MOVIE ! That wasn't very helpful. And I don't speak Boot.

After about 1 hour or so, I found a pair each for both Shilpa and I. At the checkout counter, I did tell the guy how cheesy that line sounded although it did have some truth.

The boots are on their way to Kirkland now. Let's see if they pick Shilpa.

... What river?" even though there's only one river running through the city, the Colorado River -- not to be mistaken from the other Colorado River in my Home State that carves out the Grand Canyon and empties into the Gulf of California...if it does any more due to the drought. I wonder which city came up first with the slogan "Keep (Austin/Portland) Weird"? Anyway, for about $11 you get two pounds of spice-rubbed meat, briskets to be exact with ...

... soldiers. What impressed me the most was how old some of these graves were. Plus I found Harvey Dent's grave; I guess he really is dead. (a little batman humor for any who get it haha)

After the cemetery and almost dying from heat exhaustion walking back to the car, we made our way to the congress bridge to see the bats. We ended up relaxing on a small grassy hill just under the bridge for a few hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the ...

... with me, as they’re all probably laughing on the other side of their faces driving past in their huge pick-ups, but I’m sure the bargain $2 day pass would be cheaper than the amount they pay for the many gas-guzzlers on the road.

I went to a favoured redneck hangout to get some change for said day pass, Wendy’s, and whilst they gladly gave me some change they seemed perplexed at my not wanting any food from them. Maybe the woman at the bus stop ...

Finally got back to the hostel just before 4…everyone else was asleep. Robert hung out in the common room while Michelle and I tried to get in bed quietly but we got the giggles a little bit and I made a lot of noise clambering into my top bunk!

10 minutes later, in clatters Robert. He wanted to play so went around the room whispering everyone’s name to wake them "kirsty, kirsty, kirsty" (something he would try again ...

    Great Place to Stay

    from 10Miles

We had a great experience at Staybridge Suites in Austin during this Labor Day Weekend. Customer service was excellent. Staff was very helpful and prompt. Amenities were more than we expected. Complimentary washer and dryer and laundry detergent. Complimentary cable internet connection in room as well as computers with internet access and printer near the lobby. Very kid friendly. Small basketball court and basketballs provided at front desk. Pool was a little bit small but sufficient for cooling off during those super hot Austin summer days. Eco-friendly hotel. Offers light touch cleaning services daily during the week and upon request during the weekend. Complimentary breakfast was just ok. If you are looking for a big IHOP breakfast, you need to go to IHOP. Overall, highly recommended and would definitely stay again.

What a place! You need to experience this!!

    from coachphlieg

When we arrived, we had a party of 4 in our family, and we were given a queen bed with a non pull-out couch, to sleep only 3. When we went back downstairs, the front desk lady said that was all they had, but the manager came out and gave us an upgrade for $10 total (over 2 nights), and we got a 2 room suite, with 2 queens in one one room, and a pull out couch in another - 1 tv in each room (which was GREAT, as the two kiddos we have watched cartoons in one room, while my wife and i got out OWN TV). Mon-Thurs always provide something in the living area, like snacks or light meals, for meeting others or kids activities. We had BINGO and HOT DOGS the first night we were there, and kids LOVED it. Second night was Quiche night, with free wine and brew. Don't see that everyday!! The pool is clean and refreshing, and the weight room is really nice, and clean! I can't say enough about this place, the service, the cleanliness, the roomliness, and they also have a little store down by the front office for snacks, cokes, etc, not just vending machine, for late late night needs. Gotta try this one! Two thumbs up award!

Great Hotel, Great Staff, Wonderful for Pet Travelers

    from MSSWONG

This was a very pleasant stay compared to our stay at the Lakeway Resort last year.

The hotel was pet friendly and very clean. We bring our little dog to see our daughter in Austin and we have found a new place to stay, thanks to the Staybridge.

The suites are spacious and the hallways bright and airy. The check in was quick and the staff is very polite and friendly. You can even "borrow" DVDs for no fee from the front desk. They have free internet access via 2 computers in the lobby area.

The pet walking area is open and clean. The hotel grounds, itself is nice and clean, the pool loked sparkling and the breakfast buffet was really nice.

    Nice nice place.

    Great Place

    from natural1

Hotel was the best I've stayed in period! Great staff, friendly atmosphere, and the kitchen in the room was perfect. Unfortunatly, I tried to get a room again recently but they were booked, but I can see why. Great place, highly recommend it!

Even tho I prepaid, this hotel sent me away!

    from Calanteeker

This will be a weird review, but I booked this hotel through Hotwire and prepaid for a 1-night stay. The hotel looked lovely and it's conveniently located near the Arboretum and the various business offices, but when I checked in they said that they gave my room away to a person that needed an extended stay. Frankly, I was so stunned and tired from my flight that I didn't argue, I just blankly went to the hotel that they set me up at (the nearby AmeriSuites, a gross 2-star-at-best hotel). When I asked the guy at AmeriSuites if this happens frequently, he said it does happen in that area due to the many businesses nearby (apparently, they'll bump a one-nighter in a heartbeat to accommodate a 2-5 nighter that has an account with them). I would say to swear off all Staybridge Suite hotels due to the way this one treated me, but later in the week I stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Round Rock, Texas and they were wonderful and it was a great hotel. Just thought I should alert you all to what happened to me. Good luck!

    Absolutely Perfect!

    from anonymous

I loved this hotel! The staff was friendly, the rooms were immaculate and huge. I booked a suite, and it was only $100, including taxes. MUCH cheaper than staying downtown, which is only ten minutes away. The king bed was an actual California King, not a queen size like some hotels do. The breakfast had a lot of variety, and the man in charge of the upkeep of the breakfast area was cheerful and attentive. They even have a "convenience store" on site to save you time, especially helpful for business travelers.

I booked directly through the Staybridge website, which was slightly less expensive than other travel websites. I can't stress enough what a gem this hotel is. I will definitely be returning to this hotel on my next trip to Austin.

    What a Find!

    from anonymous

We loved the Staybridge. It was spotless, well thought out, and a perfect place for a couple traveling with a child. The breakfast was above average and had a wide variety. All of the amenities were high quality. And if you call directly if there is plenty of room in the hotel you can get a better price than the ones published on the net. It would also be an excellent place for traveling athletic teams.

    Glad we stayed here!

My girlfriend and I usually stay at a competitor in the neighborhood whenever we visit Austin, but because they were sold out we decided to try Staybridge Suites. Not only was I pleased, the hotel totally exceeded my expectations! The hotel was very clean, staff was really great, and the sports court and swimming pool made it very easy to enjoy the great weather. We will be sure to stay at Staybridge Suites from now on!

    Ideal for the Corporate Traveler

    from anonymous

I travel to Austin weekly for business and Staybridge Suites is my favorite! They have a great and personable staff, clean rooms, a ton of ammenities and most important free high speed internet! I travel for business often, and it doesn't get much than Staybridge Austin!

    Home away from home....

My company sent me to Austin for a 3 month project and they put me up at Staybridge Suites Austin. I loved everything about the hotel! The suites were very clean and the breakfast and evening social hour were always great. The staff is very welcoming and made me feel at home. I highly recommend Staybridge Suites Austin!
