... ourselves to many photo opportunities before the smell of burning fiberglass and creepy sounds in the shed hinted that the place might not be abandoned after all.
The next few hours flew by so fast. Steve kept himself entertained taking pictures of random drivers while we picked out neat looking places to stop. It was no surprise to find a wide variety of Duck Dynasty items and gross trucker food, but the people ...
After driving up from Lake City, we spent a great weekend with Jamie and Kristen. They made a turkey dinner for us with all the trimmings and we relaxed at their house on Saturday. On Sunday we drove out to the Chickamauga Battlefield National Park, watched a video and toured the park. Fun stop at the Sears Shoe Store (holy lots of shoes) then made our way home for turkey leftovers and margaritas. Early departure tomorrow am. We'll have to save "Captain Ron" for next ...
... in of the Fall season and a great place to witness the changes in nature.
Cloudland Canyon was less then an hour's drive from Fort Oglethorpe. There were three different routes to get there, but naturally I took the one which appeared to be the most obscure. It was a beautiful drive. The journey began with a steep ascent up the east side of Lookout Mountain which gave way to a straight shot on the plateau of the very large mountain. While the high elevation point of the ...
... out, my dad had taken Doug here when we were younger, but we weren't there at that so this was my first time riding it.
I rode it to the top then enjoyed the view for about 45 minutes before heading back down on the last train of the day. It offered a great view of downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. Overall, it was a great first day of enjoying the woods and the beautiful natural scenery of this great country!
I began this day by sleeping in after a late night of crying my eyes out after the Braves premature exit from the playoffs (joking.) Really I was just mad at those dirty Dodgers. They pulled out all the stops to make sure they won this game, and the series, including bringing back their prized starter, Clayton Kershaw on short rest. Consequently, those bums had no chance in the next series against the Cardinals, and ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Staybridge Suites Chattanooga Downtown
My family and I spent a relaxing weekend at the Staybridge Suites. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They were very informative. The breakfast is wonderful as well. The room was not quite as spacious as I expected. However, it was clean and comfortable, and we could not here our next door guests. The only downfall is that the toliets are not industrial so they are easy to overuse. The manager was helpful and fixed our problem promptly. We were very well pleased and would gladly return. They also have a quaint lobby with a reading area and DVD rentals. This hotel is kid and pet friendly. The shuttle is 2 blocks away.
took a weekend trip to chattanooga and decided to stay here. staff was wonderful and accomadations were very nice. also pet friendly!!! will definetly stay here again, as we often take weekend trips to chattanooga!!!!!!
Terrific Place To Stay!
What a nice place! The suite was first-rate as well as the staff. Breakfast is good but they really need more space and more waffle stations. Convenient to everything without being in the middle of the noise and crowds. We even had a balcony! Also visit the Mt Vernon Restaurant at the foot of Lookout Mtn - best fried chicken in the state!
We stayed in this hotel for two nights over Labor Day weekend and were so pleased with everything! We had a one bedroom suite (perfect for traveling with two small children) and I was really impressed by the quality of the room. The bathroom vanity was granite(!) and the counter height was higher than most bathroom counters (which is much more comfortable). There was ceramic tile on the bathroom and kitchen floors, which made the rooms feel more like home. The kitchen had new appliances, the beds were comfortable and the sheets and towels were a nice cream color (makes you feel more at home than stark white linens). The room had two TV's and a DVD player, too. The staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed the free breakfast buffet (it was an actual buffet, not just a continental breakfast).
This hotel is truly a great find. It is well near everything dowtown and the rooms are neatly kept and clean. THe breakfast was great and the parking is also very organized. I would definetly stay there again. The electric shuttle is a block away where it takes you anywhere you would like to downtown. For the price and the quality it is your best bet. Ask the staff for recommendations on restaurants, we did and got 10 percent of our meal!
Very convenient to major attractions, comfortable, staff very helpful and polite. Advice: 1. Be sure to bring food for the fridge...no stores nearby. Coming North from Atlanta there's a Super Wal-Mart adjacent to the interstate near Dalton. That is the last grocery store with convenient hours you will see. 2. Believe it or not, the NASCAR show is the best at Imax. The nature stuff is almost nothing but environmentalist propaganda wrapped in dramatic cinematography....I found that most disturbing and had to sit down with my grandson afterwards and explain how evidence and opinion relate to each other.
The Staybridge Suites was perfect!
This hotel was close to perfect in every way! The staff was fantastic and the rooms were spacious and handsomely decorated. Our two bedroom suite was like an apartment. My children loved having 3 TV's! We will definitely return to this hotel! We stayed for a week and my teenager loved going downstairs to the library to communicate with friends on-line. My husband liked having high speed internet service in our room. I loved the peace and quiet of having my own room and also the breakfast downstairs each morning. The laundry room was beside the pool and it was nice to be able to do a little laundry while at the pool. The hotel seemed very safe. Having a kitchen to store snacks was great. This hotel had everything you needed away from home.
I thought that the Staybridge Suites was a great family hotel. The staff was very pleasant and extremely friendly. We checked in for the 4th of July weekend with our kids. They loved the idea of the in room DVD player and the swimming pool and jacuzzi. They also enjoyed being able to chat with their friends online while vacationing...that was really cool. We had three enjoyable days at Staybride with no problems at all. The rooms were very clean and the staff attended to our every need, and what I enjoyed most is that after a long day of walking and walking and walking all over the place, from the aquarium to rock city, etc....It was nice to come back to a room that was clean and QUITE. Keep up the good work.
I needed a last minute inexpensive, safe and nice place for my son and I to stay one night in downtown Chattanooga. We were going down to move my college age daughter back home from school.
From the moment of check in till we checked out (a sad day), everything was done in excellence. The staff were very helpful, professional and made you feel like you were at home. They had every ammenity a family could need. The rooms were a nice size and the kids and my husband loved the 2 tv's as well as the dvd player. I also thought it was a wonderful touch that they allowed us to wash and dry our clothes for free during our stay. The only thing I would change is, they need to have more than 1 waffle iron in their breakfast area because of the number of guest who stay there it would make the line go quicker. I would recommend this hotel to ALL FAMILIES!! It is clean, wonderful facilities and staff and it is close to the interstate and all attractions. This will be the hotel of our choice every year from now on in Chattanooga. GREAT JOB STAYBRIDGE!!!
