... close to 3pm. We are all dressed up and ready to leave.

Exiting Gardet T-Bana, we followed the Vartahamnen signboard (at 550m, 440m...) which leads the way towards a bridge to the Tallink Shipping Port. Where the bridge ends, there is a Vartahamnen sign and some offices to the right where we mistakenly entered and walked the whole way looking at the grandiose SILJA SERENADE glancing at us from its parking. We walked back towards the office signboard and went straight to ...

Leslie Feinberg - a discussion

... of LGBT people. (in English speaking Western world at least.) If you haven't red it, you should read it to know your roots. And if you have red hir books, you could comment this entry. :) Secondly, it was nice to hear how transwomen love Leslie as well. And to see Leslie fans in Sweden. Thirdly, it was somehow assuring to hear (from the ...

Stockholm, Sweden

After another night train, I arrived bright and early in Stockholm. The hostel that I had been staying at had been very particular about knowing when you would be coming, so I had already been in contact, received a code to get in, etc. So I headed to the hostel, dropped off my stuff and headed back out. I was staying in Old Town, so my first impressions were that the city is very beautiful (and in fact it really is, I think definitely the most beautiful of all ...

... in the meeting, and I got to see again some other people who had been there. Then I went to Basel and again some people I had met in Bern were there. The Swiss community seems to be quite integrated, I guess the small size of the country helps with that. So as I moved from Bern to Cuarny to Neuchatel to Basel, the clouds started to be dispelled and I began touching the ground again, which also means I have started enjoying myself much more ...

Stockholm Syndrome

This Stockholm trip was very random, and extremely last minute. The tickets were booked Tuesday and we took off Thursday. Initially it was going to be Guido, Andre and I, but Guido didn't buy tickets before the price increased, so it was just Andre and I. The moment Andre and I booked the tickets, we started our search for a place to stay. Hostels, Campgrounds, Couch Surfers.. we tried it all. EVERYTHING was booked. So if any of you out there ever ...

Observations on Sweden

... at their own breasts a lot. They are making sure that their breasts are in the right place and positioned well. I really appreciated that 3) There are women with baby carriages everywhere. Out on the streets, it looks like a NASCAR race of baby carriages. The coffee shops look like stadium parking lots for these carriages. 4) Everyone there wears ...

I'm in a place I didn't even know I was going

... s waters arrived, and the city's docks were full of gorgeous wooden masts and rigging. A fantastic sight to see in any city, but it seemed so appropriate for this ancient city of sail. One of my favorite visits was to the Stockholm Opera House, while nothing was playing because it is summer we were allowed to go backstage which was a thrill. Because of taking ballet for 12 years while in DC you learn to appreciate what it takes to put on any theatrical production. I enjoyed ...

The first day in Sweden

Hello all! We are excited to say that we have meed it this far and not perished in the depth of the atlantic ocean! Let us fill you in on on first day in Europe.... We began our journey at the international airport in Orlando with some slight trouble... as we began checking in we were told that Pontus' ticket had already been used...i.e. our trip to Europe seemed to have come to an end even before leaving our dear home ...

... on the steps into a main square. This was proper snow unlike the ice we use back home but they didn't cover the stairs, so much for safety, saw one guy nearly loose it. We had a traditional Swedish meal in the old town, Jenelle the meatballs (I had the Swedish chief from the Muppets in my head) and I had baked salmon, with some of the local pear cider. Very nice. Then home for an early night after a tiring day.

Cruising the Baltics

My sister and I are cruising the Baltics. Yahoo! We're on the Radisson Seven Seas Voyager. It's gorgeous...only 700 passengers on this whole ship. We even have our own butler (to share with a few other cabins, of course). Debbie and I are at least 25 years younger than most folks on this ship. But no matter. Today we walked all over Stockholm before ...
