April 12, 2008 Five years ago, when I did my first solo trip for a year, Thailand was my first stop. It seemed to take a while for me to 'get in the groove', and I never felt that I did justice to Thailand. Time seemed to fly by, and before I knew it, it was time for me to leave, and I hadn't even done the beaches in the southern part of Thailand. I always wondered what they were like, so this year, I decided to go and find out. After almost twenty-four hours of traveling, I arrived in Bangko...

After that I'll fly to Hong Kong and see my sisters and friends.
So, even though I still have a month to go before I will be back in San Francisco, the travelling part of my journey is over. From now on, it is only families and friends, too personal to write about in my blog.
I think my next and last entry will be written on the plane between HK and SF, to summarize the whole trip and also let you know that I’m safely back home.
... t think this was too bad.
Again our driver (who was wearing his long-live-the-king shirt) was fairly non communicative. The first stop was the border, our passports were stamped with a 15-day Visa (that's the longest you get on a land border crossing as a tourist, thanks for that info LP (not)) and then it was off to Hat Yai and the main bus terminal there. The drive was about 45 minutes and most of the way there was either towns (like immediately the ...
... 20% Chinese and 15% Indian and thatīs noticeable in the amount of restaurants that you can find all over the place. So so so good so far in terms of eating! You wake up and go for a traditional Chinese breakfast (forget about the ****ing croissant) please order rice, crispy chicken, fried mixture of different fishes and soup! Ok man, you are ready for a marathon! For the sake of variety you will go for lunch to an Indian ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia chiyoda99So, today was a strange day, truly Scotland, Ireland and I decided to go shopping and go to a fish spa... for those of you who don't know what that is... its when you put your feet in a pool of water and the fish come and eat all the dead skin off of your feet... it really feels quite strange and is meant to be relaxing....
So I think the owner was a tad annoyed when I screamed when I put my feet in.... I managed to get mind ...
... Tower's Sky Bridge, which connects the two towers. We arrived to find 400 other people already there, but we were still able to get some free tickets to the bridge for later in the day. The Sky Bridge itself was pretty unimpressive, the views pretty average, and the effort to go through security and several line ups was a pain. The one thing we did learn is that the towers are built and laid out based on common ...
Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia arikandcharis... be more than fine. And I really liked the price as well. The mattress was lined with a plastic covering I found out when I set my bags down on top, probably for all the drunk people who wet the beds or something like that. It crunched loudly if you moved even an inch. That was okay, it would just force me to lie still for once. I put my bags down quickly, paid for the next two nights, and hurried out the door to find my way to the Indonesian Embassy before it got too late. I ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia snclark8... opposite end of the spectrum in terms of coming from Laos where there are no tall buildings, raging nightlife until dawn, western fast food and having a mass transit system. However, like most other major cities, KL lacked the calm feel of Laos where things went at their own pace, people were always hospitable and friendly and Beer Lao was only about $1USD for a 750ml bottle at a bar.
Next stop, Siem Reap, Cambodia!!
... and just as busy. Tim went out with us shopping on Petaling Street, where we're staying, for bargains. We each got watches and assorted music cd's and movies. We spent some time walking around then had a Chinese dinner. It was quite good despite the fish staring up at us while we ate it.
While we were out earlier Tim mentioned about a bombing that had occurred that day on Bali. It occurred in Kuta on Bali and several hundred people were killed and ...
