It became historically important on 16.February 1940 when Norwegians got hold of the Nazi ship 'Altmark' that was covered as a passenger ship but had hundreds of British soldiers captured. The 'walk' is heavily promoted on all the tourist info so we just had to do it along with all the other ‘Pilgrims’. The procession of people (on a Monday?) had the appearance of a pilgrimage but the walk was just spoilt by all those darn tourists!
