Sunday 8th June

Awoke to another beautiful morning, surrounded by snow- capped mountains - not sure how much more of this we can take! Unfortunately the hikers I came in with were long gone however being inspired by my slightly 'off-track' walk in with them I decided I could use the GPS on my phone and perhaps also make my own little track back. the 17th of May is always Syttende Mai, or Constitution Day in Norway. After breakfast, we all caught the bus to Downtown Stavanger for the big day. The childrens parade started at 10am and for an hour, school children paraded by in fine apparell, school uniforms, suits, Bunads, etc. Everyone is in their finery, including the adults. It was wonderful. Each school was preceeded by a banner with the school name, and some had grade signs. there were some bands, interspersed, and usually the ...
