Bed Bugs

I stayed at the hotel because it was mandated by a tournament we were at Pen State for. After my second night there I woke up with a some bites on my body but did not immediatley attribute it to bed bugs. The following day I awoke with numerous bites on my neck and chest area. When I told the maid service, she did not seem surprised and said she would put it in her report. I packed up and checked out telling the front desk and showing the person waiting on me the bites on my neck. Her reply was to take off the refrigerator rental from my bill. I have spent more than that going to the Doctor and filling the prescription he gave me! I know this can happen anywhere but I also feel the hotel lacked customer service in dealing with the situation!

Gives the full state college experience

I stayed in this hotel for artsfest 2004. I am going back up to Penn State for 2006 and I am sorry to say that we couldn't commandeer a room. Even though, if you are an alumni going back up to have a good time and experience old college life again, this should be your number one choice. All I can say is that the location is perfectly designed for whatever you want to be a part of while you are in town.

Great location

I stayed at the Days Inn in mid June of 2006 and had an enjoyable experience. Being from State College it is always nice to go home even if I do have to stay in a hotel. LOL.

To me the best part about the Days Inn is the location. You are right in "downtown" State College. Being able to walk home from the evenings "events" is a huge plus.

The room was typical. Lots of TV channels and TONS of free wireless hubs. There is a bottle shop (read: a place to get beer), ATM, and a very nice indoor pool on site. The room was clean but nothing special. The bathroom has those newer type shower curtains that bow out in the middle. The water pressure was fine and we were on the top (5th) floor.

My only minor complaint is we could not get the room cold enough at night. We do like it very cold and just could not get the room to anything colder than normal.

The restaurant attached was a great place to grab a drink or three. There are inside and outside areas -- very nice to sit outside in June. We had no problems with noise.

Other than the great location, the thing I liked the most about the Days Inn were the staff. Check in was fast and easy. Check out I thought was going to take forever as there were 5 -6 people in line, but it went SUPER fast.

Not so bad

Just spent two nights at the Day's Inn in State College to attend a conference at the hotel. Check in was quick. Nice front desk staff. Free parking under and next to the hotel.

The room, although dated, was very clean and very quiet. Minimal toiletries -- only a small bar of facial soap and shampoo. Yes, the towels could be a lot softer, but they were clean, plentiful, and had no sign of stains. My view from the fourth floor consisted of rooftops. USA Today free in the lobby if you get there early.

The on-site restaurant Mad Mex had great burritos and a half decent, inexpensive breakfast, but loads of restaurants within walking distance -- Penn State campus all around the hotel.

My rate was $69+tax and that's about all I'd pay for this average Day's Inn, but I would stay there again for the same price just for the convenience.

What a dump!

I booked this room because of the reviews on this site and boy was I mad when I got there. This place is a dump! My room had not been renovated since the 70's (Yellow sinks!) The bed was unbearable. The towels were paperthin. I have stayed in much better quality, cheaper hotels. Yuk!! I would never stay there again. There are plenty of other good choices in State College---especially the Motel 6

Outstanding hotel!

We stayed here a few years ago, and were surprised at how nice the hotel seemed for a Days Inn. First of all, we arrived late, but the staff was very nice and did not charge us (or give our room to someone else) for arriving after 6. The indoor pool/fitness center was among the best that I have ever seen in hotels, and I was surprised to find that there was actually a lifeguard on duty whenever we went to use to pool! The room was nicely decorated although the shower in the bathroom was not the strongest, probably a new water-saver one. The breakfast was a good deal, although it took the server a long time to get my apple juice, which I have a feeling was old, and that it had been quite some time since anyone asked for apple juice. The Penn State area has many nice hotels, such as the Sleep Inn and Toftrees Resort. I would also recommend this great hotel to anyone staying in the area, as it is not your typical Days Inn!

Have stayed many times

We have stayed at the Days Inn State College many times. The staff is always patient and helpful, even on those BUSY football weekends.

Occasional special needs are met with efficiency. The location cannot be beat. It is within walking distance of the campus and downtown shopping and a stadium bus is available nearby for those who choose not to drive to the football stadium. We can stay for days without taking the car out of the covered garage available to guests.

Convenient and reasonable

The most conveniently located hotel in State College. And cheap, as long as it's an off-weekend. The hotel is clean, has a pool, gym, and a great restaurant/bar, Mad Mex. The only thing missing is an in-room refrigerator. Staff is helpful -- even helped us track down a corkscrew.

This was a days inn? I thought I was at the Hilton

This was a fantastic hotel. We drove into town (in the off season) at 730 pm and the desk staff was friendly and attentive, albeit a little flightly. It was a beautiful lobby, room, pool, etc. I was SO impressed I had to write a review! Stayed there 6/30 for $80.00. The town closes up by 8 pm during the summer so don't dawdle!

Terrible Service

If you enjoy good service, I'd look elsewhere. I waited 30mins on the phone to make a reservation. I'd stay here only as a last resort.
